"Jesse was very responsive and knowledgeable. He installed an outdoor hand rail for me. He let me explain what I needed and then found a very nice railing to install. He even had my husband come out to see how high the rail needed to be and built the concrete base up for his height. Most definitely recommend Blue Lily."

"Richard is an absolute pro. His sign on his truck and business cards are 150% accurate; honesty, trust, fair price. I trust Richard so much that he has a key to our house. We have spent close to six figures with Richard, if we used anybody else to do these services, the quality not be the same and the price would of been 2X. The number of projects he completed for us are too many to mention; here is a sampling: (1) New hard wood floor throughout the entire house (2) 5 shelving projects (3) countless cabinets and new light fixture installed, extensive electrical work, much more than most elec"

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

You can fireproof an existing door to some extent, but it's better to remove the old door and replace it with a fire-rated model. Anything dealing with extreme heat needs rigorous testing and a door you DIY fireproof will not undergo the same safety measures as a premade one. Consider a door with a rating of at least 30 minutes or more in residential areas.

While your municipality may have its own regulations requiring pergolas or other structures to be a certain height above a fire pit, the standard recommendation is that the pergola should be at least 10 feet above the fire pit. A taller pergola allows the heat from the flames to dissipate before reaching the structure.

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) says you can place smoke detectors on either the ceiling or the wall, depending on the setup of your room. Since smoke rises, the ceiling makes sense, but if you go with a wall mounting, the alarm should be installed high up—no less than 12 inches from the ceiling.

Yes, spider webs are flammable, taking them from minor household nuisance to something more dangerous. Silk boasts no built-in resistance to fire, though it takes an abundance of spider webs to actually catch fire and spread. A cobweb here and there poses no major fire safety risk, so it’s not a cause for concern.

Yes, a faulty or broken light switch can be a serious fire hazard. Malfunctioning switches, often due to loose connections, exposed wiring, or overheating, can cause sparking or arcing. If you hear a crackling, popping, or hissing sound when you use the switch, it indicates live electricity arcing inside, which is a significant hazard that can ignite nearby flammable materials. If you suspect your light switch is faulty, turn off the power to that circuit at the breaker and contact a qualified electrician to remedy the issue.
