"I had absolutely no problems what so ever! It went smoothly. They had to redo part of the door frame, and the installer went right to Lowe's and got what was needed. I was so happy with the work I recommended them to my neighbor who also used them. Their pricing was better than other Iron door companies."

"Among Rebath of Austin,Statewide and Lowe's, I finally chose Rebath of Austin for my master bathroom remodeling project after long time and careful comparisions of pricing, design etc. My master bathroom did not have a tub and I need a soking tub for helping my prostate healthy. So I had Rebath of Austin convert my existing shower and one small closet into a big Japanese soaking tub and a very confortable shower area. Yesterday Rebath of Austin team well finished all the items and did excellent jobs for my master bathroom remodeling. I am very happy and very satisfied with Rebath of Austin whole team's excellent great jobs: --Josh--Excellent company president & designer, I am specially satisfied with his excellent designs for my big Japanies soaking tub area with three beautiful steps. --Matt--Excellent overall production manager who was easy to communicate and always can satisfied my expectations. --Dago--Very Excellent installer who was very easy to communicate and always came on time and did everything very carefully. I was happy to have Dago as this remodelling project installer. --Virgil--Excellent piping master who helped a lot for the piping jobs and did excellent jobs. --Colt--Excellent glass master who did excellent job for the glass door installation. --Mario--Excellent assistant for Dago. A slab door is a standalone door without a frame or hardware. A prehung door is a complete set that includes the door, frame, hinges, and sometimes the doorknob and lockset.

In most cases, a prehung door is the better and easier option to install, especially for DIY projects or exterior applications, as they often come pre-weatherproofed. They require fewer tools and less experience to install properly. Although prehung doors are heavier and have a higher upfront cost, the investment is often worthwhile for a complete upgrade that includes a new frame.

A slab door may be a better choice if you are on a tight budget, have a custom-sized wall opening, or only need to replace the door while keeping the existing frame. While the initial cost is lower, you will need to purchase all the hardware separately and do more DIY work to hang it, which may not result in significant time or money savings.

While not strictly required, it is highly recommended to shim both sides of a door. Shimming both sides allows you to make minor adjustments for wall framing that isn't perfectly plumb, ensuring the door is level and hangs evenly. This practice helps the door swing open and close smoothly, reduces the chances of the frame warping, and can be used to center the door within the wall opening. If you are working alone, you may find it easier to remove the door slab to lighten the weight while supporting the frame and inserting the shims. With two people, the process is generally faster and easier, whether the slab is left in place or not.
