"Alex was fantastic to work with. He gave me a quote on 4 trees, then recommended removal of a 5th tree that was hollow and had something living in it. This did not dramatically increase the cost of the job. Alex was able to get me on the schedule quickly and arrived with his crew as scheduled. Alex’s team worked professionally, but were very personable and friendly. As much as possible, I like to do all the projects around the house, but this was above my pay grade, so I settled for watching from the sidelines. Alex and the guys were fine with it and even joked around with me. Cleanup occurred as the trees came down, with a few of the larger logs left behind until the next morning. Alex was at the house bright and early to haul those away, and the yard was nice and neat. Without hesitation, I would recommend Alex and TreeWise."

Aim to have your trees inspected and pruned in early spring. At this point in the year, tree service professionals can note where there is old growth from winter and cut that back to encourage new growth for the rest of the year. Pruning at the wrong time of the year could make your trees prone to diseases.

If you’re planning on keeping the tree, unless the roots are invasive, there’s no need to remove them, as doing so can cause damage to the tree. If the tree has been cut down and the stump and roots are left, grinding and removing the stump can cause root decay for some species. For other species, the stump and roots will need to be removed to prevent pests, disease, and possible tree regrowth.

Make sure the tree roots soak around a day before you dig the tree up for the transplant. Keep the roots wet while the tree is above ground. After the transplant is finished, provide consistent water every day for the first month or so. You don’t want to overwater the tree, but you do want to keep the roots wet so they can thrive in their new environment.

Dead tree branches should be removed, because they can cause the tree to lose nutrients. They can also make the tree more susceptible to disease and pests. Removing dead and diseased branches can help the tree recover and increase the odds of saving a dying tree. Make sure to prune the tree correctly to avoid damaging it further.

Since each tree is different, it’s impossible to say how long a dead tree can remain on your property. While it could be days, months, or even years, it’s highly likely that, at some point, the tree will fall. In the meantime, dying or dead trees can become a haven for pests, so it’s best to have them removed sooner rather than later.
