"We hired Chris to reactivate our irrigation system. We live on 2.5 acres so needless to say, we have a large system. We recently went through some renovation and some of the wires to our system were cut. He came out and reverse, engineered everything, and got all the wires up and running. He never gave up on the project and work day and night, literally, and even came out in the rain sometimes to work through the issues. I could not recommend him enough. He’s extremely honest and very hard-working. You will definitely be in great hands with him."

"We had several trees that needed to be removed and the stumps ground up … K6 Services did a great job! We are very pleased by the quality of work done, and on top of it - they are really nice people as well. We recommend them highly … and will have them back again in the future for more work."

"Chris M. Is the best contractor I have ever hired and with whom I have had the privilege of working. He is extremely professional, polite, efficient, and honest. He came and removed all the junk and then some. I have already recommended him to several of my friends. I will definitely hire him again when the need arises. Thank you Chris for making such an overwhelming task manageable and bearable, maybe even pleasant. I look forward to working with you in the future. Oh and the price was so reasonable, better than I ever expected. Great job!"

"We hired Havlick Services to clear and fine grade our 1-acre residential lot, preparing it for sod. Ross was very hands-on throughout the project. Pricing was reasonable, and we could not be more pleased with both their professionalism and the end quality of job. Would give Havlick more stars if I could and would strongly recommend."

"I had multiple items I had ordered for my daughters that needed to be put together. These items included a bed, dresser, vanity, crib with changing table attachment, and a swing set. Chris put them together in a timely manner and was very friendly. He also installed blinds and curtain rods for us. He's been back to put up floating shelves and hang televisions in three rooms for us. We call him anytime we have a project around the house."

"Phil did a great job! Easy to work with. This is the second time we have used Cut It Out and the completed job was just as we requested. They cleaned out 8 acres of rock and downed trees, shredded, and moved and leveled dirt. We highly recommend Phil and Out It Out for any land management project you might have."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Almost any kind of home can have a wine cellar or cabinet installed. You’ll need an area where a concrete floor can be put in, along with the necessary insulation, climate control, and ventilation systems. If you think of yourself as an aspiring sommelier, an underground wine cellar may be ideal, but it will cost significantly more.

What you choose to install really depends on your budget and how many bottles you’re looking to store.

There are many ways to cut through roots when digging, especially if your trencher doesn’t seem to be removing the roots. First, use a shovel to expose the roots. Then, use gardening shears to clear out smaller roots or a reciprocating saw to remove larger plant roots. If you plan on keeping the plant, avoid cutting any roots over 2 inches thick.

Professional installers often include a deep layer of crushed gravel under permeable pavers to allow more runoff to soak through into the soil below. Many installations will include multiple layers of gravel, with coarser aggregate at the base and finer aggregate that sits on top of that bottom layer. Above the gravel, you’ll often find coarse sand that helps reduce paver shifting over time. Some permeable paver designs include a water collection system set into the gravel layer to route runoff to a safe area for disposal.

Excavation is priced in cubic yards, so you’ll need to find the volume of the area in order to calculate costs. Multiply the length, width, and proposed depth of your excavation site, then convert it into yards to get the volume. Multiply this figure by the price per cubic yard.

Most homeowners can measure by hand to get a rough estimate, even if it’s tedious. You may want to pull out a tape measure or use a string to help mark the area.

Digging out a basement takes anywhere from a few days to a few months. Most projects take at least two to five weeks, but it could take several months if you encounter obstacles. This project takes longer if you need to brace or raise your home before the excavation. Digging out a basement in new construction can take as little as three days.
