Customers say: Quick response

"Rob responded immediately to the Angie's list request. We made an appointment and he showed up on time. He immediately went to work and explained what he was doing when I asked him. He was very careful to put on slippers to replace his boots. He also laid a tarp to keep the dust from dirtying the fireplace hearth. He quickly assessed the ignition problem and fixed it. ($150) He then moved to rapidly clean the dryer vent ($140). He was professional throughout. I will hire him again."

"My experience with Jaye was excellent. I hired Jaye?s
company for two projects. First and most importantly, I wanted a recently,
poorly built limestone fire pit and limestone propane shell fixed. Secondly, I
had his company clean and seal all of the limestone pool and spa coping, the spa
limestone surround and the newly built limestone fire pit and propane shell ? a
very big job considering the amount of limestone involved.
At the beginning of June, 2014, I contracted a Cedar Park
concrete company to replace a 25-year-old deck with a decorative stamped
concrete deck and to build a limestone propane fire pit and a limestone shell
to hide the propane tank. Both of these latter structures were attached to a 9?x9?
limestone spa. Although the decorative concrete deck turned out to be very
nice, the fire pit and propane shell were very poorly built and very
unattractive. After two months of failing to have the issues with these
structures resolve with the Cedar Park concrete company, I decided I needed an
expert opinion regarding the quality of the fire pit and propane shell. I found
a highly recommended stone mason from Angie?s List and arranged a meeting with Jaye
Stark from Mason Man.
Jaye was a very diplomatic, soft spoken man. He did not
criticize the original builders personally, he just pointed out the major
problems with both the propane shell and fire pit stone structures and there
were many. The main problem, outside of the poor esthetics of the structures, was
that the entire fire pit and propane shell structures were built with flaws
that would affect their stability. As it turns out, the man who built the
structures had hammered a piece of wood into the spa limestone to support that
side of the propane shell, which would eventually rot and compromise the
stability of the structure. Jaye pointed out that the grout lines throughout
the limestone pieces in the fire pit and the shell structures were way too wide
and would crack within a year or two, causing the structure to be instable down
the road. He recommended that the shell be completely rebuilt and that all of
the limestone on the fire pit be removed and replaced. I decided to go forward
with his suggestions and hired his company to complete the work, and I am very
glad I did.
The fire pit and the propane shell that was replaced by
Jaye?s company is beautiful; it is what I initially envisioned it would look
like. I have attached pictures of the before and after the construction of fire
pit and propane shell built by Mason Man.
Jaye?s team of workers were excellent. They were courteous,
they did beautiful work and cleaned up after the work was completed. I was most
impressed with preparation work they did before the actual demolition and
construction began; they covered everything. The Cedar Park Company did not
cover anything and stone dust was everywhere. The work was completed in a week,
and the cost of the project was very fair. They cleaned the sealed the limestone in two days.
If in the future I decide to have more stone work done, I
will not hesitate to call Mason Man."

"They did a great job. They solved all the problems I had with the chimney and it’s been working perfectly ever since. They also fixed a problem on the roof around the chimney; they replaced the wood around the chimney with a material that would never rot, so they fixed it even better than it was before. It took them a couple of days to do the work. They took care of all the cleanup as well. We've been real happy with them."

FAQs for chimney cap service projects in Jarrell, TX

Chimney caps may be installed by a few different professionals, including a chimney sweep or a mason that specializes in fireplaces and chimneys. A gas fireplace technician is the best person to install a chimney cap on a gas log fireplace vent to be sure the cap is appropriate for the application.

A chimney cap costs about $300 on average. The prices range from about $75 to $1,000, depending on the material, size, any repairs needed, and if your chimney cap requires custom fabrication. Chimney caps are usually made from galvanized steel, copper, or stainless steel. Additional costs may include hiring a chimney sweep to clean the chimney before a cap is installed.

Yes, it’s worth capping a chimney. Here are several reasons to install a chimney cap:

  • Keep out rain, snow, wildlife, and other debris

  • Help prevent chimney fires

  • Reduce your chimney’s exposure to moisture

  • Maintain your chimney flue liner

  • Help reduce energy bills by helping regulate your home’s temperature

Typically, a chimney cap will last from three to 25 years. This wide range is due to variables like climate, the material the cap is made from, and how often you use your fireplace. Regular inspections and maintenance can help extend the life of your chimney cap.

The best style of chimney cap for a brick chimney is one that fits tightly around the brick top of the chimney. The cap should have a screen to fully enclose it to keep animals out. The best materials include stainless steel, copper, or aluminum that fit tightly or are custom fabricated for a perfect fit on your chimney.
