"

Dewayne came by first and gave us an estimate. His son returned the next day to perform the work. He replaced some missing grout, cleaned and caulked the tiles and tub. There was some confusion on my part because what he did and what I thought he would do were totally different.

After checking with DeWayne, I discovered that what I asked for was not the same work that was done before. Confusion? Yes. My fault? Absolutely.

His son returned and attempted to replace our grout, but unfortunately could not. The grout was too old and brittle and like cement. He did not want to damage our tile

He was so polite and apologetic. He took a long time to explain everything in detail. I felt terrible that I'd wasted his time. I did have him patch some missing grout in my kitchen floor and he was kind enough to show me a loose tile in my foyer...which he fixed.

This is a great company. I'll definitely use them again and highly recommend their work and customer commitment.

"What a pleasure to work with a true professional! Ken was timely, knowledgeable, informative, and nice to my two pesky dogs (he even brought dog treats). After assessing the situation, Ken emailed me an estimate before the end of the day. He did the job himself, and the results are outstanding. I got far better results than I could ever have imagined. Additionally, he taught me how to maintain the new finish and left the necessary product with me. As many of you know, slate maintenance can be quite tricky. Do not attempt to do this type of job yourself! Call Ken and have the job done right the first time. You will save time and money. He uses superior products unavailable at home centers or even tile distributors and gets superior results. This man has done his homework. Benefit from his knowledge and experience, and enjoy your beautiful floors!"

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

The process takes two to four days, depending on the size of the area and your experience level. The first day involves assessing and prepping the existing tile, while the second day is for laying the new tile. This may take longer in complex areas. After letting the adhesive dry for 24 hours, grouting and sealing can be completed on day three. For larger projects or intricate tile patterns, expect the timeline to stretch a bit longer. Also, proper drying time between steps is essential for long-lasting results, which extends the project’s time.

Silicone caulk shouldn’t be used in place of grout because each material serves its own purpose. Thanks to its flexibility, silicone caulk is good for sealing around the perimeter of tiled floors, where movement and expansion might occur. However, grout is more durable, making it a better option for the joints in between tiles, which need to withstand constant weight and foot traffic.

Different types of tile cutters may work best depending on the type of tile you are cutting and the size of your project. There are two main types of tile cutters: manual and electric. Manual tile cutters are quick and easy to use for small projects and softer tile materials, but they can only make straight cuts. Electric tile cutters make light work of big projects and can cut through harder materials.

The reasons not to install flooring underneath a bathtub outweigh the benefits. A properly installed bathtub will keep water from reaching the unprotected subfloor underneath. Installing a tub on top of finished flooring can lead to damage and scratches to the new floor. Also, a small leak from a tub drain may be more difficult to notice if finished flooring impedes water drips.

There are a few different tools you can use to score tiles. Manual tile cutters or tile scribes work well for scoring in straight lines. Tile nippers are one of the best options for scoring because they can make small and irregular cuts that larger tools may not be able to handle.
