When it came time to select flooring, back-splash, hardware and paint, we were consistently told – “that’s not in the budget” when we found a particular style we like. We felt like we were constantly being downgraded on the quality of stone tile, back-splash, and hardware. We had to purchase the hardware ourselves, separately, for the new pantry doors. The process started out well, but continued to drag on for seven weeks! There were days when very minimal work was done, if any. At the beginning, they would clean up after themselves, but as time when on, they stopped doing that. Taped off rooms had a fine mist of paint on our hardwood floors. We were told, “Oh that will come off”. Pieces of old stone flooring were found through-out the house that had been tracked through as the construction workers used our restrooms. We finally requested they lay down a thicker layer of covering over our hardwood floors to prevent scratches. We found large razor blades, multiple pieces of slate, hard mortar, tile and back-splash on the lawn, not to mention the paint left on the grass where they cleaned out their brushes and trays. Our garage was so full of their supplies and equipment we could barely walk through there. Communication with the owner was minimal, until close to the end of the project, and only then when we called him. However, check requests for 'Draws' were requested via email on a regular basis throughout this process. He never called to keep us informed of status or updates, even when his painter quit in the middle of the project. He left the communications to his ‘designer’ who told us many things that would be done, which never occurred. • AC Coils would be blown out after construction to clean out all the dust – NEVER Happened • AC vent cover would be painted to match kitchen walls - NEVER Happened • They would go over the lawn with a metal detector to pick up any screws, nails, etc., - NEVER Happened • They would come back as many times as needed to make sure we were happy with every bit of work done – NEVER Happened After we were told the project was finished, except for a few touch-up items, we were shocked at what we found: • Leak under the kitchen sink (was later repaired) • Cabinets were hung crooked and huge gaps and spaces between the door and cabinets (not corrected) • Holes and scratches on the cabinets were not filled in before being painted; some areas still only had the primer on them and were not even painted (these were not corrected) • Spacers left in the grout between the stone tiles (this was later corrected) damaged tiles not replaced (see photo) • Grout missing between stones under cabinets (not corrected) • Wires from cabinet lighting left taped with painters’ tape under the cabinet (see photo) • At least 7 pits in the counter-top granite and three seams are visible and can still be felt when running your hand over them We presented these items to the contractor and he said he sent the painter and granite installer back out to our house to address the list above. Even then, they did not repair all the issues. After the second time we emailed him about items still not repaired, he said “THIS WILL BE YOUR LAST CORRECT LIST”, in all CAPS! He came out himself after we asked if he had inspected the work done the previous day, He called one man to come out and meet him there to adjust still crooked cabinets and fill in the granite pits with apoxy. They said, “This is the best we can do.” Cabinets are still crooked and we still have gaps and spaces between three doors and the cabinets; still have two pits in the granite and all seams still showing and areas that could not possibly have been polished. They had installed the invisible hinges that auto close the cabinets, which is a great feature, but he told us that it was just hard to get these types of hinges spaced just right and there will always be gaps! REALLY? You’re a professional cabinet maker and this is the best you can do? Perhaps he should stick to doing apartment cabinets… they have much less standards than homeowners… and he most certainly lives up to those low standards. In addition, we had removed everything from the kitchen prior to construction and packed it away in boxes placed in the adjoining dinning room. The 'designer' went through our personal boxes of decor, and placed items through-out the kitchen, so that she could take 'staging' photos. This was a blatant invasion of our privacy and completely unprofessional. We live in a 25 year old home that still needs updates. Our master bath will be next, but we will NOT even consider using Renovation Services, nor would we ever in good conscious, recommend them to anyone.

Thomas Wood is the name of the person I worked with.  The quality of his work is exceptional.  The prices are very fair.  He is very attentive to my concerns, and he is passionate about his work.  I would recommend him to others.
