"Great job, will hire again when needed. Communication was good and timely. She designed the layout exactly like we needed. Very knowledgeable of the type of plant we needed for our shaded area. I've already had neighbors say how great it looks."

"New sprinkler system; French Drain; Pull-up and completely replace front flower beds. Extremely pleased. Alex was there for every day for each stage of the work; actually, doing some of the work himself. He is the consummate professional, very knowledgeable, well-mannered and extremely thoughtful. When we do the backyard, The Home Group and Alex will be at the top of the list."

"Kidd is very creative and did a fantastic job redoing our leaking pond to a pondless feature. I just wish I had a larger yard to install a larger water feature."

"I had had problems with a prior waterfall leaking and ponding, so when I did the contract with Suburbia, at my request they agreed to give me a two year warranty for those particular problems. Unfortunately, I have had constant problems with my waterfall both leaking and ponding (it's supposed to be pondless) in the last almost two years since Suburbia installed it. However, the main reason I'm writing this review is to complain about their poor responsiveness on warranty issues. Each time, I have to call them multiple times before I even get a response, they fail to show up when they say they will, and they still haven't fixed the problems with the waterfall notwithstanding coming out many times since it was installed. They also came up with a design that is apparently very difficult to maintain and requires pulling all the rocks apart to get to the source. To be fair, I do think that Doug is extremely gifted artistically, and we do love the look of the waterfall (especially when we can actually have it running when it's not leaking, etc.). I just can't recommend them, though, for their ability to have an effective functional design or for their responsiveness on warranty issues, which is terrible.

Installing an outdoor water fountain costs $2,700 on average, not including the cost of the unit. Prices range from $150 to $10,650, depending on your location, the type of fountain, size, and accessibility to the site. Self-contained fountains and water features recirculate the water within the unit. Depending on size and features like multi-tiered cascading bowls, they typically cost from $50 to $5,000. More elaborate fountains with waterfalls and ponds can cost from $450 to $10,000 or more.
Every one to three months, you should perform regular fountain maintenance, including draining, cleaning, and rinsing the components of your fountain basin and the pump and tubing to prevent algae and other buildup. Fountain maintenance also includes keeping the appropriate water level and removing debris like leaves, insects, and twigs from the water to avoid clogging the pump. You can also hire a professional landscaper to clean your fountain for around $50 to $150 per month on average.
Most water features do not use a lot of electricity, averaging between 100 and 250 watts per day. The size of the motor can impact electricity usage. To reduce electricity usage, consider using a timer to turn the fountain off at night and when you’re away from your home. Solar power is another way to defray electricity costs after you recoup the cost of installing the solar components.
You can choose several types of fountains to add to your backyard, ranging in size, number of basins, and special water features.
Check out the price ranges of common fountain types:
Birdbath fountains: $40 to $1,100
Cascading fountains: $40 to $2,000
Tiered fountains: $100 to $6,000
Kugel fountains: $150 to $5,000
Glass wall fountains: $100 to $3,000
