"I needed a French drain put in my yard. I called different companies to find the right company at a fair price. This company is outstanding. When they were finished they cleaned up everything and it looks great. I would highly recommend them to anyone."

"Top notch dirt work! Brian performed some property grading, drainage work, and built me a pad for a shop. He was fast, knowledgeable and very professional! His pricing was very fairâ ¦There are always cheaper companies out there, but in my opinion and experience hiring a cheap contractor usually ends up costing much more money than a quality contractor, because the job often needs to be redone. That or you have to live with subpar work on your property. Trust me, you wonâ t regret hiring Diamond H6!"

"This young man did an excellent job fixing my water draining in my front yard. His swells are very unnoticeable but effective and I think that’s what makes good excavation. I would’ve guessed he’s been doing this way longer that he told me. This man is barely getting started, thank you!"

"Jensen Irrigation did a fantastic job for me on my irrigation system. Caleb was quick to respond, assessed what needed to be done and had some great suggestions, and did the work well, leaving everything look great and in perfect order. I would highly recommend Jensen Irrigation. I have already enlisted them to do some additional work for me, including sod, landscaping, and tree trimming."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

If you don’t wish to dig it out and convert it into a finished basement, you can still encapsulate your crawl space to protect it from damage for an average cost of $5,500. Finishing a crawl space beyond this isn’t really worthwhile, as the low ceilings mean you won’t be able to use the area as living space.

If you don’t have a crawl space but have a partial basement you want to make deeper, you can expect to spend a little less—between $40,000 and $90,000 on average. However, if you’re not adding new finished square footage, you won’t see much in the way of ROI.

Depending on the severity of the freeze and the method used, thawing frozen underground pipes can take anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours. Applying heat directly to the pipe using heat tape, infrared lamps, or hot water jetting can speed up the process. However, patience and careful monitoring are key to avoiding pipe damage.

In the United States, a depth of 36 inches (three feet) for underground water lines is the accepted industry standard. This depth varies from location to location based on local conditions. In areas with colder winters, they may be buried deeper to prevent frozen well water pipes : This is usually at least six inches below the frost level. The International Plumbing Code calls for a minimum of 12 inches below grade.

How deep your septic system needs to be into the ground depends on several factors. In extremely cold environments, the tank needs to rest below the maximum frost line, which can be up to six or eight feet deep. The standard burying depth for most systems is between a few inches and four feet below ground level. Depth can also depend on the slope of the landscaping and other property variables.
