"David was very professional and truthful. He was very prompt and did an excellent job. I was given a warranty with his work. No one else could have made me happier. It was very hot and Dr Air and Heat came with promptness to my rescue. He helped me with an affordable unit. I just had eye surgery the same day my unit stopped working. Dr Air came with no hesitation and cooled my house. I didnâ t find another company that worked as fast as Dr Air & Heat. He doesnâ t rip you off with very expensive bill. I will definitely refer David to other people. I liked his honesty and professionalism. David is training his son the business too. His son is very respectful and smart. I liked communicating with them. They did a job well done. My unit is working good and cold. Heâ ll work with you on payment by not overcharging. He helped me in a time of desperate need. Heâ s a Christian man. If you need AC help, please call Dr AC Heat and Air. Thank you David and your son. It was a pleasure doing business with you. May God continue to Bless. Thank you so much. Ms Young"

"Te Ch that came out was very honest. I had called fo a mini splt system. His recommendation was something different saving me approx $10;000. It is rare these days to deal with corperations out to sale you more than you need and even rarer to have someone suggest a cheaper alternative."

"I will review the value for the money after a full heating cooling season. I'm happy to have the 28 year old (orinional) dirty, compressed Rockwool gone, as well as having the major air intrusion items sealed. Pricing, in my view, was very reasonable. Jacob and crew are top notch. On time, work at a steady productive pace, open to any question or suggestion, clean up as the go along, clean up when they're finished"

"Our AC went out yesterday evening and this morning at 7:30am my sister called an AC repairmen, Legacy Air Heating & Cooling, they answered the phone right away, made the appt for 10-12 today! Repairman showed up on time, fixed the clogged drain, checked the unit over, and told us a price, then finished fixing the problem, unit was low on freon, and then went into the attic to see if any ductwork was loose or off of the ceiling vents. Josh is a very professional serviceman. Best AC Repair experience I have ever had!"

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

It’s not customary to tip HVAC technicians, and most professionals won’t expect it. However, it’s a nice way of showing your appreciation for the work they do, especially if they come out in inclement weather or on a weekend or holiday to fix an emergency issue if your heat or AC goes out in extreme temperatures. A good tip would be between 10% to 20% of the total bill, depending on how above and beyond the tech goes for your repair and on the total cost of your HVAC repair or service. For something like a routine tune-up or scheduled maintenance, tips aren’t expected.

If you’re planning an AC replacement, choosing an AC with a higher SEER rating may save you money in the long run. Tax credits could cover as much as 30% of the job, and you’ll notice smaller utility bills (particularly if you live in a hot climate where you need to constantly run the AC). Generally, you can expect to pay between $350 and $1,500 for each SEER rating increase. Weigh the cost against your typical utility bill to figure out what’s worth it to you.

This depends on the extent of the freezing. Some ACs only need an hour or two to thaw out, but others may need a full day to completely unfreeze. Once you turn off the system to let it unfreeze, check it periodically to make sure the drain pan doesn’t overflow. When you turn the system back on, keep an eye on it to ensure it doesn’t start freezing again.

This is a bit of a trick question. Even though the seasons arrive at the same time every year, the weather doesn’t always behave according to the calendar. So, while it’s fair to say that you can expect to turn on your AC starting in late May or early June, it all depends on the outside temperature and how cool you like to keep your home.

Yes, a mini split AC system can replace central air—and quite easily, too. Since mini splits don’t require ductwork, homeowners can convert their central air system to a mini split to save money and energy. Consult with an HVAC professional to learn more about the process of replacing your central air with a mini split.
