"I had solar panels installed by SunPower's subcontractor Hooked on Solar in 2020. In 2023 some of the panels were damaged by an electrical outage and surge. It took about 4 months for Hooked on Solar to identify the damaged panels, schedule an appointment to replacement, but finally they fixed the panels."

"Craig was very professional and honest. Tesla would not sell the the items to reconnect my solar panels so he would have had to reuse the exiting items which he said would likely void my lease/warranty with Tesla and he didn t want to do that to me. I was so impressed by their honesty - I would recommend them and will hire them when I need work on my solar panels."

"When I phoned, Saul happened to have just finished a job in my area, and he had a 2-hour time window available.  He asked if it would be convenient for him to come and complete my job immediately.  I was delighted to be able to get the job done so quickly.  He arrived, looked at the ceiling fan and location and quoted a price to me.  I agreed to the price.  My home is older, constructed in the 1930s.  Saul ran into minor issues with the wiring, but quickly installed the fan.  Before beginning the job, he suggested that I cover the area below the light fixture to avoid getting it dirty.  After the installation, he picked up and disposed of the trash (plastic from the fan parts, etc.)  Even though the job took a little longer than expected due to the minor issues noted above, Saul charged me the $135 that we had agreed to.  He is friendly and professional.  The fan works great and is quiet.  He made sure that it was balanced properly.  I had expected him to install just the fan, but he also installed the complete light kit and bulbs."

Solar Panels questions, answered by experts

Solar panels can pay for themselves in five to 15 years, depending on the cost of your system, how much energy it generates, whether you qualify for incentives or power buybacks, and the price of energy in your area. Solar panels pay for themselves over time as they lower electricity bills, so it will take time to recoup your initial investment. However, the longer you have your system, the more money you can save and earn.

Yes, a solar panel can power a TV without a battery, but only if the sun is shining and the panel is generating enough energy. Your solar panel and TV must have the same voltage, and you should install a charge controller and inverter between them so power surges don’t destroy your TV. To watch TV at night, in the early morning and late afternoon, and on cloudy days, your home must be tied to the power grid.

No, you cannot turn on a new solar system before inspection. The inspector checks that the system is correctly connected to the grid and that safety components and features are in place. This process prevents problems on the electrical grid and offers protection against fire in your home.

Your local utility company may also require inspection documentation before you can connect to the grid. An inspection can ensure solar power efficiency and determine how you might increase it.

Yes, you can connect an inverter directly to your solar panels without solar battery storage if your home is connected to the power grid. However, most pros don’t recommend a direct connection because solar panels don’t put out steady voltage. It’s always best to install a charge controller between your solar panel and your inverter to regulate the flow of energy and ensure a stable power supply.

Installing solar panels involves drilling small holes in your roof to secure the solar panel mounting brackets. These brackets hold the solar panels in place and must withstand strong weather conditions so they’re secured into your roof. However, holes and screws are sealed to prevent leaking and further damage.
