Cody & Sons ran a camera into the pipe and used a locator to find out where the problem was. They cleaned out the blockage and could see that some roots had broken a section of the pipe, so that sewage could still flow, but it was easily blocked and would back up into the house, but only when there was excess water, such as when laundry is done. They dug up the ground, replaced the pipe and everything is working like new. This was all on the same day as when they came out to just check on things. The two guys that came out, Phillip and Cody, were incredibly professional, helpful and courteous. They explained everything, answered all my questions, and provided great turnaround time. I went ahead and asked for quotes to replace my water heaters and perform some other work."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/tx/dallas/cody-and-sons-plumbing-heating-and-air-reviews-126052.htm"},"position":6},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"BRITTAIN PLUMBING","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"TX","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Mary U."},"reviewBody":"Once again, Brittain came to the rescue! Instead of patching and repairing the 23 year old french drain, I decided it would be better to have it replaced after the foundation contractor had completed his work. I contacted 3 drainage vendors from Angies List. All three inspected the job site and provided their recommendations and quotes. It did require running a drain pipe under my drive way and 50 feet down the alley. To my suprise, I selected the same contractor that put the original french drain in some 23 years earlier. David Block, a partner with Texas Oasis, was the same person that quoted and installed the original french drain in 1990. A crew of 2 men started on Monday morning hand digging the trench to hold the new rigid pipe. Soon it started raining and raining and raining. What a mess to work in. Using a surveyor sighting tool they measured to insure the drain pipe would slope was meeting specifications of 1/8 inch per foot of pipe. It was 85 feet to the drive way and 70 feet down the alley. On the second day, they hired a contractor to cut a slot across the concrete driveway, it took about 30 minutes to compete. They completed the trench down the alley and then mixed concrete to patch the driveway. The patch doesn't look to noticeable, for they ran along an existing seam and blended in with the rest of the driveway. With 6 surface drains now functioning the potential flooding from Texas rains has been greatly reduced. He returned as scheduled and performed the work. He made sure I understood the warranty and the charges. I was very satisfied when he was done. Unfortunately, during the installation the condensation drain pipe from the air conditioner in the same closet space had to be removed and replaced. When it was replaced the joints were not sealed. This led to a slow leak in the closet space. This leak was not discovered until our family returned from a vacation. During the time we were gone the thermostat was set high. The leak combined with the higher temperature caused mold and a bad smell. We arrived home late at night and immediately noticed the smell and traced it to the closet. I called Benjamin Franklin even though it was late on a weekend night and explained that we could not run our air conditioner due to the leak. A plumber (Chris Reeves) was dispatched that night. Chris arrived and confirmed the air conditioner leak problem was caused during the installation of the water heater and was covered by warranty. Discovering he did not have all of the plumbing supplies he needed to fix the problem he requested the assistance of another BF plumber. The second plumber arrived and together they repaired the leak and we were able to use the air conditioner. This was fortunate since the temperature, even at close to midnight when they finished the work, was very high. I wish the mold and smell could have been corrected as quickly. We battled those problems for a full month at additional cost and aggravation. So, I wish I could give BF an unqualified "A", but the extent of the problems caused by the leaking pipe has colored my rating. I would give a B+ for the installation and an A for the follow-up warranty work. I was quite impressed with both, though, and would recommend BF. Knowing they stand behind their warranty carries a great deal of weight. Drain Pipe Installation reviews from real Angi homeowners in Georgetown, TX
All Drains leak detection was 50% less than a competitor and the repair was done reasonably priced and very professionally. I would definitely call on them again for any plumbing needs.
Great. They had to dig to the spot of the break, repair the pipe and cover up the spot. They did it all in an hour.

We noticed one particular toilet would overflow every few months. It then dawned on us that it only overflowed after a full day of laundry. The toilet was in the half-bathroom next to the laundry room, and the laundry room is the last stop before the sewage drain leaves the house. That led...

"Elderly Abuse …. Run I woke up to a leak in my front yard as I headed out of town. My wife called Roto Rooter as she left for work to come give us a quote. They said they only needed someone there to greet them when they arrived. So we had my 85 year old, legally blind, suffering from dementia mother, who lives next door, meet them outside so they could begin with their estimate. They never called us for a quote. Instead he replaced one section of pipe (which was only 4 ft. long), and a shut off valve (which he said was broken but was not) and charged a whopping $6,500. He walked next door and demanded payment from my blind mother. NO APPROVAL WAS GIVEN!!!! NO PHONE CALL WAS MADE!!! My mother, who isn’t mentally with us anymore, gave them her credit card and boom…… $6,500. We didn’t get a new water heater or a new sprinkler system. We got one 4 ft. section of pipe for $6,500 and a shiny new on/off valve which was not needed. That guy new what he was doing. He didn’t call us for a reason. He took one look at my blind old mom with dementia and charged whatever he wanted. He left us an arbitrary bill I could hardly read with little to no specifics. I have attached…. When I called the manager he did return half of the amount. It sounded like we were making progress. I still asked for an itemized receipt so I could see how 4 ft. of pipe and a valve would cost $3,250. If I stayed in town this repair would have cost me a total of $75 dollars in materials. He said he would get that itemized receipt and then has ghosted me ever since. I have reached out on numerous occasions. This company did not have permission to do $6,500 or $3,250 worth of work on my property. They were called for an estimate and took advantage of my elderly, blind, dementia plagued mother to run up a huge bill that no one can explain. They demanded that my mother, who isn’t the homeowner, pay $6,500. My wife waited by her phone all day for an estimate that never came. This is morally and ethically appalling at every level. Just for reference, we had our foundation lifted for $9,000 last year. They dug under the house in several areas and lifted it. This guy wanted about the same for replacing a 4 ft. section of pipe. How is this real????"

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts
Start by unscrewing the overflow valve, which is located on the wall of your tub between the floor drain and the tub spout. Gently insert a plumbing snake down into the pipe, move it back and forth, and pull it out. Remove any hair, debris, and soap scum that comes out with it. Repeat the process until the snake comes out clean, and then reinstall the cap on your overflow valve.
If your pipes are frozen, water won’t be able to flow—meaning your toilet won’t be able to flush properly. In basic terms, toilet bowls flush when water rushes in from the toilet tank. If the pipes are frozen, your tank won’t be able to refill after a flush. You can keep adding more water to the tank if you have access to running water with frozen pipes, but it’s certainly not a long-term solution. Your best bet is to figure out how to unfreeze your pipes and get your toilet back to tip top condition.
Both plumbing inspection cost and length can vary widely based on the specifics of a property. For a larger home, historic home, or rental complex, a full plumbing inspection can take a full day. Put aside at least eight hours from the start of the visit to ensure that you'll be available to answer any of the plumber's questions. However, a thorough inspection of the average one-story to two-story home lasts just two to three hours.
While not every state requires that plumbing work be done by a licensed plumber, it’s in your best interest to find a local, knowledgeable plumber to handle your mobile home’s plumbing. Plumbing is a very complicated process, and making a mistake could cause big trouble down the line—small leaks can quickly grow into large leaks and cause massive (and costly) water damage issues.
Yes, you can technically use a utility knife or straight blade to cut through PEX pipe. However, this isn't an ideal method simply because you won't get the same clean cut that you'll get with a pipe cutter. A utility knife will likely create angles that weaken your push connections. If you use a utility knife, score the pipe with the knife along your marked line several times before making your final cut.
