"Set an appointment for today.  Mr. Hart showed up on time and did an excellent job on our carpets upstairs and down.

As an owner/operator he cares about doing it right the first time.  No doubt I will call him the next time I need carpet cleaning or refer him if anyone asks."

"before hiring TexBest Floors in 2014, below is my email to Pekin's Flooring : ======================= First, guys from the other vendor simply look more "professional". The tools they used to measure my house, the drawing of floorplan they made on the fly while doing measurement, and the initial quotation right after the measurement in my presence, and so on, showed that these guys have done the same thing so often that they have got it down to science. Seriously, I doubt I can do the same floorplan drawing in my HGTV home planner software with the same quality within this short time. Secondly, the neighbors reference. No matter what people say, references that I can see with my own eyes from people I'm familiar with always beats strangers reviews on the web. Lastly, price is important but not the only factor. The other vendor's bamboo price is quite high, and I really don't want to go anything not bamboo. They are able to work out a deal with my kitchen project so my overall bill is still decent. I understand you have good review on homeadvisor site. However, there is this nasty review on yelp.com. I can't verify what's said there, but you need to take a look and probably counter-review there somehow. I don't take those loner reviews (that is, only one review) very seriously. Any business can have a bad encounter. It's not possible for 3rd party to figure out the scoops. However reviews like this can still sway potential customers in someway, if left unchallenged. ================================================== While the project was on going, I noticed color variation. I sent pictures to Glades. She complained to Calibamboo the manufacturer, and had them ship replacements to me, and had her crew replace the newly installed one. We went through 2 or 3 cycles of this. After the whole thing is done (including the above mentioned kitchen counter top replacement), I went to TexBest and paid Glades the remaining balance. I'm satisfied with workmanship and Glades's excellent customer care. Now it's been almost 3 years after the bamboo floor installation. Although I stick to my original complain about the color inconsistency - that 's manufacturer CaliBamboo's problem, the other good qualities of the bamboo floor still stand. And I recommend TexBest to other home owners."

"[Service Provider Name Redacted] responded very quickly to my request for carpeting. They showed up on time with a full set of samples. They were very helpful in explaining all the different carpet and padding options. When it was time to install, the installers showed up on time. They were very professional. They carefully moved all the big furniture out of the way before they started each room.. When they were finished, they took care to make sure everything was put back exactly the way I wanted it. The carpet is installed flawlessly. I can’t see any seams and the edges around the baseboards are all tucked in perfectly."

"My carpet installation was scheduled for Friday, April 2nd, 2021. When the installers showed up to lay the carpet, they didn't have enough to carpet all of the areas that I'd wanted re-carpeted. So, I decided to just have vinyl plank flooring put in in the bathroom instead. This was then scheduled for Friday, April 9th, 2021. When they showed up to do this work, they once again didn't have enough plank flooring, so the work had to be postponed until Wednesday, April 14th."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

Choosing the right carpet involves assessing room usage, desired comfort levels, durability requirements, and stylistic preferences. Carpet fiber types and density should also be considered during the decision-making process.

When deciding whether to repair or replace your carpet, consider its age, the extent of the damage, and its location. It's often best to replace the entire carpet if the damage is extensive, such as large sections needing replacement, or if it's caused by water, which can lead to mold problems. Similarly, if your carpet is nearing a decade old, replacement is likely the more logical choice. On the other hand, consider repairing your carpet if the damage is localized to one spot, like minor rips or snags, the carpet is still relatively new, or the damage is in a low-traffic area of your home.

Installing carpet padding is mostly a matter of measuring the room and cutting the carpet pad to size with a utility knife. You can save some money on carpet installation costs by doing it yourself. Before installing the carpet padding, you should install the tack strips around the room’s perimeter and prepare the subfloor by cleaning and making any necessary repairs. Then, unroll the carpet pad and cut sections as needed. Staple the carpet pad to the subfloor along the edges, leaving the tack strips exposed.

While it is possible to install carpet yourself, it is a challenging DIY project that requires precise measurement, proper cutting skills, and knowledge of correct installation techniques. The process involves multiple steps, including removing old flooring, installing underlayment and tack strips, and stretching the carpet to prevent wrinkles, which can take several days to complete.

Before starting, consider these factors:

  • Warranty: Many manufacturers' warranties are voided if the carpet is not installed by a professional.

  • Tools: You will need to buy or rent specialized equipment like a knee kicker, carpet stretcher, and seam roller.

  • Complexity: DIY installation is most suitable for simple, straightforward rooms. Projects involving stairs or floor vents are significantly more difficult.

  • Cost: While you can save on labor, the cost of tools plus the risk of expensive mistakes—which may require re-installation—can make hiring a professional more cost-effective in the long run.

Given the potential for errors, voided warranties, and the need for special tools, hiring a local carpet installer is often recommended to ensure the job is done correctly and safely.

Several types of flooring can be installed over existing tile, provided the current tiles are in good condition. Options include vinyl, vinyl plank, laminate, engineered wood, hardwood, carpet, and cork. Among these, various types of vinyl and engineered wood are the most common choices due to their versatility. Alternatively, you can install new tiles on top of your current ones if you like tile floors but want to update the look. Before proceeding with any new flooring, it's crucial to ensure your existing tiles are not damaged; otherwise, they will need to be removed first.
