"We went to Floors Galore to chose a new wooden floor for the apartment. the work done by them consisted on having old carpet removed from two bedrooms and closets and old wood flooring removed from entrance, study, dining and living. They provide us with a quote and estimated time for the job. Once the new wood arrived at the shop, they started with the job. They were very fast and were done within the time frame that they promised. I also paid exactly what I had been quoted - there were no additional costs. The new floor looks great."

"Ezequiel was very quick to respond and be available to fix our worsening floor issue. The problem was worse than we anticipated, but Ezequiel was willing to still do the work and resolve our issue quickly. Would highly recommend!"

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

In most cases, carpeting isn’t kind to the wood that it’s attached to. Most carpet installation uses adhesive or nailing strips, both of which will damage wood. Conversely, you can choose to use an adhesive designed to be removed from wood, in which case carpeting can actually protect your hardwood stairs.

It’s a good idea to install a rug pad under the carpet for your stairs. To make the pad fit, you’ll need to cut one section for each stair tread that’s about one inch narrower than the stair runner so that it won’t be visible once the carpet is installed on top.

If you have a concrete subfloor, you must secure the carpet padding with adhesive or glue. However, if you have a wooden subfloor, use staples instead. Removing a glued-down carpet can be difficult and time-consuming, so it’s best to avoid glue when possible.

If you’re using a carpet runner instead of a traditional carpet, pay attention to your width measurements. Instead of measuring the total width of your staircase with 2 added inches for foldover, simply measure the width you’d like the runner to cover. Runners generally come in standard sizes, so you may need to approximate what would look best in your space.

Yes, there are plenty of ways to lay stair carpet without grippers, such as carpet adhesive, magnetic flooring, or staples. Adhesive may be your best bet if you don’t want grippers, as it will most likely stick the best and cause the least amount of damage. However, if you’re looking for an easy fix, grippers are one of the best solutions you can purchase.
