"I recently had Sunshades Window Tint tint the windows of my home, and I am extremely satisfied with their work! The team was professional, efficient, and the end result is fantastic. The tinting not only adds a sleek look to my windows but also provides the privacy and UV protection I was looking for. I can't wait to see the benefits on my electric bill as the tinting is expected to help with energy efficiency as well! I highly recommend Sunshades Window Tint for their top-notch service and quality workmanship!"

"We had our front windows tinted for the sun and heat of North Texas. Steve came out to our residence, measured and installed what we needed all in the same day. We are extremely happy with the outcome and with the owner of the company Steve. Great Guy, quality work and we'll certainly recommend him to family and friends."

"I had some previously tinted windows that I wanted to match, and Steve quickly and accurately matched the tint. David arrived on time and the quality of his work was excellent. I would definitely recommend Metro Tint and would contact them again."

"They were friendly, honest (so many other contractors outright lie to you), accurate with their bid, prompt with keeping the installation appointment and thorough from the initial contact to the completion of the job. Service rep followed up with an inspection after the job was complete. Only 2 things I could say were slightly annoying were the screws left on the garage floor (but I was expecting some anyway from a previous contractor's work) and the fact that the sales rep did not deliver the rebate forms until it was almost too late to claim the rebate."

"Top notch company. They did vehicle tint and home tint. Love the professionalism and products. Did not have correct service to pick on drop downs. Just want to specify window tint was the product and install"

Window Tinting questions, answered by experts

You can easily and cheaply use tin foil or cardboard to black out your windows. Save a pretty penny by cutting either material to the size of your windows and taping it to the window. This is one of the easiest and most budget-friendly blackout solutions, but it definitely isn’t the most aesthetically friendly.

Some frosted glass sprays can handle the outdoors, but most of them aren't built for it. Sprays made for exterior use will say so clearly on the label. Anything marked “interior use only” can't hold up against rain, UV exposure, or changing temperatures without peeling, fading, or yellowing. Outdoor-rated sprays are typically more durable, but even then, proper prep and application matter. Before spraying anything outside, double-check the product instructions. If it doesn’t specifically mention exterior use, skip it.

DIY is possible, but professional application ensures even adhesion, bubble-free results, and longer-lasting performance.

The average cost for home window tinting is around $600, with most homeowners paying between $150 and $1,600. Costs can also be calculated per square foot, typically ranging from $2 to $100, or per window at around $75 each. For example, tinting one or two windows might cost between $200 and $350, while a larger project of 13 to 15 windows could range from $4,124 to $4,747.

Several factors influence the total project cost, with the number and size of the windows being the most significant. Other key factors include the type, shade, and quality of the tint film, as well as labor costs. Additional treatments, such as low-emissivity (low-E) coatings, can also increase material costs.

Window tinting offers several benefits, such as making your home more energy-efficient by blocking harsh sunlight, protecting furniture from fading, and increasing privacy. For this reason, many homeowners choose to tint only the windows in specific areas where direct sunlight and privacy are primary concerns.

The lifespan of window tinting depends on several factors, but a high-quality, professionally applied tint can last anywhere from 5 to 25 years, with premium tints lasting at least 15 to 20 years. Key factors influencing longevity include the quality of the film, the professionalism of the installation, and the type of window. Some companies offer lifetime warranties, while others may only provide a one-year warranty or none at all, so it's wise to verify this with your service provider. To prolong the film's life, clean it gently with a microfiber towel and mild cleaning solutions. Avoid harsh, abrasive, alcohol-based, or ammonia-based cleaners, as well as sharp tools or scrubbers, which can damage the surface.
