Customers say: True professional

"Ernesto and his crew were amazing from start to finish. He was so kind and really paid attention to detail. He re-stained and repaired our back patio railing as well as painted our farmhouse interior/exterior doors. We will definitely call him again for any painting we need done at our home. Definitely a 5 star rating."

Small jobs welcome

"We were very impressed with not only the quality of work but also with the care they took in not creating a major mess. Outstanding job in fixing the ceiling cracks. The texture was matched perfectly as well as the paint. Better than new. Friendly and courteous. Highly recommended."

"Team was amazing. With limited time, they were able to get to us fast, efficient, and with a great price. Their service was top notch and with the crew that they sent out, they were able to knock out a rather large home with both walls and ceilings much faster than other painting contractors were quoting. They walked us through testing and validation and gave suggestions and made sure that we got exactly what we wanted. I would highly recommend Paintwell and plan on using them for any other painting projects that are required."

"In addition to the roof repair, AA reinstalled 2 lightning rods on the roof. They also replaced rotted wood on three dormers and the hips on the upper balcony with Hardi-plank and painted them. Installed some new flashing as well. When I requested a quote, David responded quickly and was right on time for the first visit. Luis headed up the work and he and his crew were professional and fast. I would (will) hire these guys in a minute,"

"Mr Lopez and crew did fantastic job creating a level outdoor patio space, including ramp, that allows access for me using walker or scooter when my hip acts up and I cannot walk without help. He took my design and made it work beautifully despite tree roots and rocky soil. They were wonderful to work with."

Painting questions, answered by experts

While power washing isn't a requirement before you stain a fence, it can make the job much easier and faster while reducing manual labor requirements. The stain will not work if the wood is full of dirt and dust, so power washing, sometimes called pressure washing, is a fast and effective way to prepare the wood for staining. Remember that you need to stain or repaint relatively soon after the wood has dried so that there isn’t time for dust and dirt to build up again.

Stains penetrate wood best when it's cool and dry, so you want to avoid moisture. If the wood is wet upon application, or if it rains before the stain dries, the water will soak into the wood and displace the staining solution. This leads to a flaky and blotchy look, which is the opposite of a sumptuous even coat. Once the stain has fully cured, after about 3 days, rain shouldn’t cause you any problems.

When applying multiple coats, wait four to six hours for each coat to dry. Not waiting long enough can result in streaks, peeling, and uneven color. Plus, it will be more difficult to discern where the second coat has already been applied.

There are several ways to make a wooden fence more visually appealing and keep it that way for years to come.

  • Treat the fence with a wood sealant to protect it against the elements. It’s recommended to reseal a fence every two to three years, but if you live in a harsh climate, you may want to do it more frequently than that.

  • Restore the fence if it’s old, corroding, or fading. That includes cleaning it and making small repairs where needed.

  • Paint the fence in a color that you like, whether that’s a simple white or more vibrant option. Fences usually need to be repainted every one to three years.

  • Decorate the fence with planters, string lights, birdhouses, mirrors, shutters, and more.

Yes, many repair services include repainting to match the color of the existing siding or walls. Most professionals offer this service to ensure the repaired area blends in seamlessly.
