"JP Construction is a great company and I am glad to recommend their services. First, you know the company is serious about getting your your work (and confidence) when the owner of the company shows up at your house to appraise your job needs. Jon Polson addressed all my questions about the scope of the work to be undertaken and provided a prompt proposal and estimate of costs. Once approved, the JP team went into action. Mike Long oversaw the entire process coordinating various teams of window installers, siding crew, and painters. They really work as a team. There were some unavoidable delays due to weather, (It was early spring.) but I was kept informed of all necessary rescheduling. All the crews did a great job and left the job site clear and clean at the end of every workday. Any remodel or construction job has a degree of stress for the homeowner, but JP Construction kept the stress level low. Final walkthrough went well. The last thing Mike did was replace a window screen that had been damaged during the work process. I have another job pending and plan on using JP once again."

"From sales to installers, everyone was top notch. Sales kept working with us as we kept changing our minds on the window style we wanted and then how to save some money on window placement since we were not going with the cheapest options and replacing 19 windows. We had many quotes that included window demos to rule out the cheaper quality or pre-made vendors. Of the ones left, Window Expo offered the highest quality for the best price. Everything happened as we were told. The windows look and work great. I do not see how anyone could go wrong selecting Window Expo for their window projects."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

Most solar screens last 10 to 15 years, depending on the material quality, exposure to weather, and the level of maintenance. High-quality materials and regular cleaning can extend their lifespan, while harsh climates or neglect may shorten it. Routine cleaning, inspecting for damage, and avoiding harsh cleaners can help extend the lifespan of your screens.

Installing a basement window generally takes a few hours, assuming there are no structural issues you need to resolve first. If you’re a novice DIYer, the project could take longer; on the flip side, a licensed and trained window contractor may be able to replace multiple basement windows in the time it takes a homeowner to replace one.

Window screens can help keep some heat out of your home, which is one benefit of using them in summer. It’s also the reason experts suggest removing your screens in winter—so it’s easier for the sun’s warmth to filter into your home. This will keep you cozier and potentially reduce your heating bills.

Most window screens last for about 10 to 12 years, assuming they are made from quality materials and receive proper care. The lifespan of common materials like fiberglass and aluminum can vary based on weather exposure, as constant sun or harsh winters can accelerate wear and tear. Regular cleaning and basic maintenance can help extend their life. Signs that a screen needs to be replaced include rips, tears, brittle or sagging material, fading, or a bent frame. While small tears can often be repaired, larger areas of damage typically mean it's time to replace the entire screen.

The cost ultimately depends on size, but roughly, the most popular screen materials will set you back anywhere from around $0.25 to over $25 per square foot. Fiberglass and aluminum are usually less expensive at around $0.25 to $0.70 per square foot. Solar screens cost about $7.50 to $15 per square foot, while security screens range from around $10 to $25 per square foot.
