He is very precise when it comes to details such as proper paints, matching, and repairs. He is equally great when it comes to exterior work. He is also very fair with pricing and shows up as scheduled. He does not rush the job and does not ask to be paid until the job is done. Flat paint has a much shorter life span than other finishes due to the lack of protective gloss. How long flat paint lasts on walls will depend on sun exposure, moisture, temperature variations, how often it is cleaned, and more. While it’s impossible to give an exact number, don’t be surprised if you need to repaint walls with flat paint every few years.

In many cases, you can sleep in a room painted with low-VOC paint on the same day you painted it. You’ll want to give it at least 10 hours to allow any lingering chemicals to dissipate. However, it can still have an odor for about a day after painting, so you may want to add extra ventilation or adjust your sleeping arrangements if you’re particularly sensitive. 

No-VOC paint is generally odorless and won’t emit toxic chemicals, so it’s even safer and more comfortable to sleep near after a fresh paint job.

While it’s best to avoid exterior painting when it’s raining, you can still paint inside when the weather is wet. As long as the humidity and temperature inside your house are moderate enough to allow paint to dry properly and your room is properly ventilated, it’s perfectly fine to tackle an indoor painting project even if it’s raining cats and dogs outside.

Sprayers use up to 30% more paint than rollers because of overspray. Some ways you can minimize the amount of wasted paint include selecting the best paint sprayer for the job, choosing a lower pressure sprayer and using a lower pressure setting, keeping the sprayer well-maintained, not spraying on a windy day, and holding the sprayer at an appropriate distance from the surface. 

You can calculate a painting charge by starting with the square footage of the area you painted. If you painted one room that’s 11x32 feet (132 square feet), charging $5 per square foot would get you $660 in labor costs (132x5). You may also choose to charge extra for intricate work (such as baseboards or crown molding) or painting jobs done in complex locations. Then, you’ll need to charge for the materials used, including primer and paint, and tools like brushes, drop cloths, and ladders.
