"it's a bit pricey, but if my trees are saved it'll be worth every penny. Dr. Bob was incredibly nice and he knows his stuff. After 45 years in the business I would hope he does. Another plus? He didn't treat my questions as if I were stupid. They drove from Dallas TX to my home in deep east TX a drive of over 4 hours and that was all in one day. I would definitely recommend B&W Insect control and tree service!"

"They removed a large dying tree and trimmed three others. They worked quickly and cleaned up after themselves, hauling all the debris away. We were completely satisfied and would happily recommend their services to others. They came a day later then promised, but it was raining and the work would have been extremely difficult. They called and rescheduled immediately."

"Matthew and his co-worker were both very friendly and professional. What I like most of all is that they stuck to their word. They were very prompt to come out and give an estimate. When hired they showed up and did an excellent job. My husband and I were very pleased with their service. They cleaned up after the job was completed and did a great job on our trees. We will definitely use them in the future."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

It depends on where you live—but in most areas, leaves begin falling in September and continue falling until January or February. Warmer regions, such as Southern states, may see leaves fall a bit later in the calendar year. It also depends on the type of trees in your yard and their maturity.

A pro can guide you on the alternatives to tree topping depending on the specific issues within your trees. For example, if you’re dealing with breakage and cracks in your tree, they may suggest canopy reduction, which removes less than 25% of the tree’s limbs. If you’re dealing with lesser damage, some intentional pruning may be all you need. If you’re looking to get a clearer view through your tree, the pro may also try windowing or skirting your tree.

Bleach can potentially kill some types of delicate ornamental trees, but for the most part, it will only kill the foliage it comes in contact with. Applying bleach is not an effective method of killing a tree. A better option is to use an herbicide, which is a chemical compound designed to effectively kill a tree.

Ensures complete removal and mitigates risks of underground root damage.

The ideal depth of a tree notch depends on the tree, but it should usually be between 20% and 25% of the tree’s depth. However, if the tree is leaning towards the direction of the notch, it can be cut more shallowly—at as little as 10% of the depth. When the tree is leaning away from the direction it needs to be felled, you can cut deeper, closer to 30%.
