"Jose is one of the most knowledgeable repairmen I have met. He was upfront with what needed to happen to fix the ice maker and the attendant problems it caused the refrigerator. He answered all questions straight forward and didn't promise "the moon" if he got the job. He was on time, stated his price up front, told us what was involved, made a promise to complete the job ASAP and followed through. The refrigerator now works better, the ice machine produces ice, we have had no freeze ups since, and the work is warranted for ninety days. My wife and I agree that he is a superlative repair man. If we need other repairs for appliances, Jose is the first person I will call. He is worth it"

"R&R arrived on time to repair our clothes dryer. The problem ended up being a burned out electrical outlet. They told us we needed an electrician and to call them if the dryer was damaged as a result of the fried outlet. Fortunately it was not damaged. We were charged a $45 service fee, which we had no problem with. We will call them again for large appliance repair."

Appliance Repair questions, answered by experts

It’s not necessary to tip appliance installers, but it is a nice gesture to show your appreciation for their hard work. It’s especially a good idea if your team has to haul your appliance up stairs or through tight areas and around corners without damaging your home. Tipping each installation team member between $10 and $15 is a great way to thank them for a job well done.

The best time to buy a new appliance is when your current appliance breaks or you are doing a renovation. You could get a good deal on a new one. Retailers will often list these items on sale during major shopping holidays like Black Friday, Labor Day, etc. Another great time for an appliance upgrade or change is during a renovation. Not only will you be able to better match your appliance to your new style, but the contractor may be able to dispose of your old appliance for no fee.

Yes. Not only do gas stoves present the risk of a gas leak, but cooking with gas produces twice as much harmful particulate matter. According to Columbia University’s Climate School, gas stoves can also release formaldehyde, a known human carcinogen, and carbon monoxide, which can be toxic in high concentrations.

Costs depend on appliance age, issue complexity, part availability, and labor rates.

You should never plug a normal 120v appliance into a special 240v outlet, as it can quickly burn out the appliance. This will cause irreparable damage to the appliance and, in worse case scenarios, cause damage to your circuit breaker. Check your appliance’s rating before plugging it into a 220v outlet to avoid electrical disaster.
