"These guys are the very best, most knowledgeable painters I’ve ever encountered in my life. They are responsive, fair, professional and they went above and beyond for our home. I would definitely recommend them. We had a laundry list of home improvement items that we had tried to fix ourselves, and they were able to literally give my home a facelift. Everyone who has come over has instantly noticed. The quality of paint is exactly what we needed. Nick listens to your needs and is a wealth of information if you have any questions. Looking to resell your home and gain a higher resale value? Book these guys. They were able to get everything done in one day. Have renters and need a facelift for new renters? Book these guys. Want to go with the latest Pinterest ideas? Book these guys! They were able to get wonderful new colors of paints and color match my existing colors. I’m beyond impressed. You won’t be disappointed."

"This is a great company to hire. They provided a fair offer and completed the job in a timely manner. They showed up when they were supposed to and work several days in a row to complete the task. I wish I would have found this company to do all the painting inside of my home prior to moving but I will be calling them again for all the painting jobs and other things I need done in my new home. Great job fellas and thank you!!"

"Joel had previously painted our home and did a great job. Last month he rebuilt the small shed we had for our water heater and did a great job. He and his team also built a new ramp for the tool shed and installed a new gate in our back fence. Overall we were very pleased by his work. We will continue to use his services!"

Painting questions, answered by experts

Limewash and whitewash are two techniques used to give brick a light, matte finish, but they differ in composition, application, and permanence. The best choice depends on your aesthetic goals and the specific surface.

Composition

  • Limewash: A natural and environmentally friendly option made from limestone, water, and sometimes pigments. It is breathable and soaks into porous surfaces like brick.

  • Whitewash: Traditionally made from lime, water, chalk, and binders, but a similar look can be achieved with watered-down white paint. It is paint-based and sits on top of the surface.

Appearance and Finish

  • Limewash: Provides a natural, textured appearance that allows the brick's character to show through. It offers a more traditional finish.

  • Whitewash: Creates a softer, more opaque finish, often used for a rustic or shabby-chic style.

Application and Permanence

  • Limewash: Is semi-permanent and can be removed, making it a good choice if you might want to change the look in the future. It requires more skill to apply and cannot be used on previously painted brick.

  • Whitewash: Is a more permanent solution. It is more forgiving to apply and can be used on painted brick. However, because it sits on the surface, it can trap moisture.

Ultimately, if you want a breathable, natural, and reversible finish for unpainted brick, limewash is a great option. If you need a more permanent, opaque coating that can be applied over painted surfaces, whitewash is the better choice. Whitewashing may also be more economical, costing approximately $1.40 to $4.20 per square foot.

Whether to brush or roll stain on wood depends on the project and your preference. Brushing is ideal for smaller, intricate areas and offers more control over the application, ensuring thorough coverage and penetration into the wood's grain.

Conversely, rolling is efficient for more extensive, flat surfaces and can save time. However, it is not always the best fit for textured or uneven wood. Some projects may benefit from combining both methods, using a brush for detail work and a roller for broader areas. Ultimately, the choice between brushing and rolling depends on the specific requirements of your staining project.

Manufacturers use a different process and formula for exterior paint versus interior. The exterior formula has to withstand elements like temperature, UV lighting, moisture, wind, and debris. Interior paint doesn’t need to be as tough, only exposed to dust, scratches, dents, scuff marks, and the like.

The number of coats you need to apply when whitewashing a surface depends on how opaque you want the final product to be. If you're going for a transparent, barely there look, a single coat or two may suffice. For fuller coverage, you'll want to use multiple coats. Another option is to use a less diluted paint to get a thicker coverage.

If you paint a vinyl fence, it will likely stick to it for only a brief amount of time. This is because vinyl is not a porous material, so it's not an ideal surface for holding paint. Initially, paint will stick to your fence, but it will eventually peel off. Applying primer before painting your vinyl fence will help paint last longer. Certain primers are well-suited to vinyl, which means you can paint vinyl siding with the proper preparation.
