"We definitely recommend A Perfect Finish. The owner (Mark) was present during the entire process. He was careful with details and expected only the best work from his team. He had a strong relationship with his staff, who he had been working with for years; We loved Sean, David and Jeff as they were each perfectionists in their own regard and even worked into the evening (asking me if it was okay to do so) when they felt it was needed . They even fixed my back gate and my garage door opener which were inoperable!! A Perfect Finish went "above and beyond the call of duty!" They. also offered competitive pricing. (In ground pool remodel). My pool is now GORGEOUS! We liked them so well that we have hired them for another project!"

"I hired CustomScapes to sod a good portion of our St. Augustine in the front yard and to install a sloping creek bed of rock to help with a drainage issue. Juan runs his business very professionally, He and his crew did an awesome job from beginning to end in one day. I now have a beautiful yard! I definitely recommend them to anyone needing landscaping projects."

"Epic Lawn Service evaluated my fixes: removed the 7ft. stump of a 90 year oak tree, filled in the hole and smoothed the earth to match the yard around it, repaired 30 ft. of chain link fence, raked up leaves scattered around the house and on the roof. Epic Lawn finished the job on time and with care. Terrific Team!"

"Paul did a demolition on my inground swimming pool. Very professional and honest. My pool was a 8 1/2 feet deep diving pool. Took Paul about a week to complete the job. I’m very pleased with the results. I would highly recommend D5 Plus to take care of business."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

You do not have to dig footers for a deck as long as it meets local code and holds up to weather in your area. If you live somewhere that experiences high winds and earthquakes, you may need to dig for your deck posts. Deck blocks, post anchors with base plates, and helical pile systems are the three no-dig deck post options you can choose from if local code permits.

Because decomposed granite is a durable material, a crushed rock or gravel base is optional as long as the DG is properly installed and compacted. However, installing a base is a good idea because it will ensure proper drainage and stability and act as a weed suppressant (although you may still occasionally have to pull weeds). Installing an adequate base can also increase the durability of driveways and walkways. If you forego the paver base or gravel underneath, line the area with landscaping fabric to avoid weeds.

The rules for trenching and excavation include setting up and following safety protocols, learning how to use tools and machines properly, and ensuring there is a safe exit for all workers. Keep heavy equipment and materials away from the edge of the hole or trench. Call the 811 dig line before starting any excavation or trenching project to ensure you don’t hit any electrical or gas lines.

In the United States, a depth of 36 inches (three feet) for underground water lines is the accepted industry standard. This depth varies from location to location based on local conditions. In areas with colder winters, they may be buried deeper to prevent frozen well water pipes : This is usually at least six inches below the frost level. The International Plumbing Code calls for a minimum of 12 inches below grade.

The best way to protect tree roots is to avoid the roots entirely by excavating outside the root radius of the tree. For nearby projects, it’s a good idea to construct a temporary retaining wall. But that’s not always possible, depending on the project and the root system. In these cases, consider using alternative equipment like an auger to tunnel under the ground.

Remember, tree roots can damage nearby cement foundations as they grow. If a tree is close enough to interfere with large excavations, it may be better to remove the tree than risk future problems.
