"I thought they did a fine job on all aspects of the renovation with the exception of the finish of the exposed aggregate decking that was poured. The contractor they hired to do this obviously took no pride in his work. There were 2 spots where a stick of wood was showing on the finish and when he he used the water to expose the aggregate, he washed out some pebbles making the finish feel rough."

"Brush and small trees removed, larger trees trimmed, culvert replaced, driveway built, pond dug out where natural spring kept area wet, property fenced. Work done in a timely manner. Has his own equipment and did not have to wait on rental availability. Reasonable rates. First lot cleared efficiently and hired to clear additional four lots."

"Top notch dirt work! Brian performed some property grading, drainage work, and built me a pad for a shop. He was fast, knowledgeable and very professional! His pricing was very fairâ ¦There are always cheaper companies out there, but in my opinion and experience hiring a cheap contractor usually ends up costing much more money than a quality contractor, because the job often needs to be redone. That or you have to live with subpar work on your property. Trust me, you wonâ t regret hiring Diamond H6!"

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Excavation and grading are both generally necessary for designing your foundation, and leveling the ground where your foundation will go. These steps can also prepare the area by removing vegetation and anything else that could interfere with your home’s foundation.

Trenching and boring are two distinct methods for installing underground utilities. Trenching involves digging a channel using equipment like an excavator, trencher, backhoe, or shovel. While it is a simpler process, it causes significant disruption to the surface, landscaping, and surrounding ecosystems.

Boring, also known as directional boring, is a less invasive alternative that uses a drill to create a tunnel for utility lines without disturbing the surface. This method is more precise and is ideal for installations that need to go underneath buildings, roads, or bodies of water. Although boring is less disruptive, it is generally more expensive than trenching.

Depth is not a qualifying component of evacuation. Any human-made cut, cavity, or depression in the earth’s surface is considered excavation. The hole from excavation can be any size, shape, or depth. Excavation is used to create foundations, reservoirs, drainage ditches, and roads. Long, narrow excavations are called trenches and are often used for underground utilities.

Yes, chipmunk holes may have two or more entrances. Chipmunks can create an entire network of burrows. Having multiple entrances makes it easier for them when trying to escape from a predator, such as a snake, or if an entrance collapses due to flooding. Each entrance leads to the nesting chamber underground, which is where the chipmunk spends the majority of its time sleeping.

It’s possible to transplant trees as tall as 50 feet when an experienced tree planting service uses the right equipment. However, a tree with a trunk larger than two or three inches in diameter needs to be handled by a professional in order to yield successful transplanting results. Consulting a tree planting professional is the best way to tell if your large tree can be safely transplanted.
