Our new location services customers in Dallas and the surrounding Cities. Our company also has locations in the Fort Worth and Arlington areas. Our goal is to have locations in central locations within the larger cities in the metro area to better service our customers. The Residential Electric Service Professionals at Mr. Electric know what a daunting task it can be to identify and solve even the simplest home electrical challenges. That’s why we go out of our way not only to offer comprehensive solutions for all your residential electrical needs; we also provide you with the information and resources you need to make educated decisions about which solutions are best for you. Our residential electric products and services into four categories: Upgrades and Improvements, Safety and Security, Specialty Lighting, Home Energy Efficiency .

"I hired Mr. Electric to install a NEMA 14-50 outlet (EV charging outlet) less than two feet from my breaker box. The total cost after a $100 military discount was $860. When I asked about the price, the technician explained it was because an ?industrial-grade outlet? had to be used. However, the exact outlet installed typically retails for $45?$60. Even adding reasonable costs for the breaker, wire, junction box, and faceplate, the materials should have been in the $150?$200 range. That means I was charged more than $660 in labor for a job that was less than two feet from my breaker box and took under 40 minutes to complete. The lack of an itemized receipt made it hard to understand the breakdown, and the pricing feels unreasonably high for the scope of work performed. I recommend anyone considering Mr. Electric ask for a detailed estimate in writing before agreeing to service."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

In most parts of the country, it’s required by law that a licensed electrician be the one to connect your ceiling fan if the ceiling hasn’t already been wired to support one. We strongly recommend going with a professional if you need to install wiring into your home to power a ceiling fan.

If you’re replacing an old fixture with a ceiling fan, you usually won’t need a permit, but if your electrician runs new wiring for the fixture, you likely will need a permit. Building permits are necessary in most municipalities if you’re making changes to your electrical system, so even if you have partial wiring run to the area and need new wiring installed for added functionality, you’ll probably need a permit. Your electrician should be able to let you know if you need one, and they’ll typically file the paperwork for you.

Since the cost of installing a ceiling fan is $250 for most homeowners, it might be beneficial to replace your existing fan if you are experiencing a significant repair issue, like a broken motor. However, for less expensive repairs, like a fan blade replacement, you’ll likely spend less on the repair than a complete fan replacement. Of course, if you’re looking for an upgrade or a new style fan, replacing it altogether is always an option.

Ceiling fans are very often worth the investment because they improve comfort in your living space and help reduce utility bills. In the late spring and early fall—and even in the summer in some areas—homeowners with ceiling fans can often get away with open windows and fans, which can cut down on cooling bills and also reduce wear and tear on the HVAC system. Over time, ceiling fans can pay for themselves by saving you money on electric bills and air conditioner repair and maintenance.

Often, your existing ceiling fan can accommodate adding a light fixture. The wiring is typically below the fan motor. If you’re adding a ceiling fan to where a light fixture used to be, ensure the electrical mounting box is rated for that use or retrofit one in the location. Not all types of ceiling fan mounting brackets support adding light fixtures.
