"The problem turned out to be a burned out small electric door switch. I believe the price was way too expensive for the service performed and the price of the door switch. What more can I say? It got done."

"Shortly after starting the job, Barry, asked for considerably more money down to complete job, which was not agreed upon. Since he indicated he would not come back to complete the job unless I  advanced more money, greatly concerned me.  He called me back and I asked him what he needed to complete the job.  He mentioned an additional $1000 more for trenching, etc. Insurance company agreed to send me an additional $1,000 above his proposal price,  Barry asked me for my email address so he can forward the new proposal amount which I gave him. On Friday, March 4th I paid him $2,333 after trenching/repair of wiring in conduit to one tree light and boathouse.. At this point, communication went downhill so I had decided to eliminate the last job to be done in the amount of $1124 leaving a balance due him of $759, He indicated he would come back to check anything not yet done, etc. Unbeknownst to me, 2 emails were sent early on Monday, March 7th that he would be at my home at 10:30 AM (at which time he showed up at my home) and not aware of this appt., I had asked him to come back in a few hours since I am my husband's caretaker and was in the process of showering/shaving him, etc.  He indicated he would be back the following weekend for we expected heavy rains for the next few days.  Well, the 2nd email again sent that morning (which I also had not seen) indicated he would be back in a few hours and was going to place a lien on my property for $934 remaining balance which amount was actually $759 if I did not pay him.  Contractors, etc., that I worked with before never emailed appt. times to me.  All appointments have been communicated by phone so that the time is agreeable to both parties. I would like to say his helpers/workers were very accommodating and professional.

UPDATE 4/5/2016
In regards to the response the provider left. This information is not true. He agreed to work with my insurance company for the price proposal. The insurance company accommodated him by providing more finances after the agreement was made. Also, in regards to the lights I asked to be installed, this was not wanted for free. I bought the supplies and he wanted charge me $585 to install 3 motion sensor LED lights on the outside of the home. I declined this because this was a bit excessive seeing that I had bought the parts. I had hired someone else who did the work for substantially less than his quote."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

You can bury underground electrical wire six inches deep—but only if you use a rigid metal electrical conduit. For rigid, non-metallic conduits, bury the wire at least 12 inches deep. If using an underground feeder cable rated for direct burial, you'll need to place it at least 18 inches deep, as it has no conduit for extra protection.

An electrician can handle wiring issues with the garage door opener, like faulty connections, circuit problems, or sensor malfunctions, but they’re not the right person to hire for mechanical repairs. Garage door specialists handle things like broken springs, tracks, and panels, while electricians step in if there’s an issue with power supply, motor function, or safety sensors that aren’t responding correctly.

Type S or T fuses don’t require any special removal or installation tools. However, replacing a cartridge-style fuse is easier and safer when using a fuse-puller tool. All of these tools should be available anywhere you can buy fuses.

Under-cabinet lighting is generally energy-efficient, especially when using LED technology. Compared to traditional ceiling lighting or older bulb types like halogen and incandescent, LED under-cabinet lights consume significantly less energy, which helps reduce operating costs. This applies to various forms, including strip lights, puck lights, and built-in fixtures. For an option that uses no electricity, consider battery-operated puck lights. While they require periodic battery replacements, they have the added advantage of functioning during a power outage.

Christmas lights typically do not need to be grounded like electrical circuits in your home do. However, it's crucial to use outdoor outlets equipped with ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCIs) for added safety. GFCIs can help protect against electrical shocks and are recommended for outdoor electrical connections when using Christmas lights.
