"The crew showed up every morning on time. They patched/drywalled and textured numerous small areas. The texturing was so good, that it is almost impossible to detect where the repairs where made. They also framed, drywalled and textured the kitchen area for recessed lighting installation. They repaired an area where there was a shower leak. They replaced the drywall and textured an area where a closet had been removed. On every part of the project, they exhibited superior workmanship. And at the end of every day, they cleaned up after themselves. Hire them again? Definitely yes!

"Antonio, the owner, came in the same day I called for an estimate (friday) and we scheduled the drywall project the following Tuesday.  I was impressed that he took off his shoes (without me asking) when he saw that we don't wear shoes in the house.  He was the first person I got an estimate and I decided to go ahead and schedule it because he was friendly, professional, and gave me a discount (estimate was over my budget). I didn't have another estimate to compare his price, so over the weekend my husband encouraged to get other estimates.  I decided to cancel our appointment, but he called me back and worked with me by giving me another discount closer to my budget.
On the day of the project, a worker arrived right on schedule. He was prompt, professional, and friendly.  He went over the details again with me on what I wanted.  Before he started, he laid out plastic and cloth from our door all the way to our kitchen to not track dirt on our carpet. I am detailed and particular.  When he outlined the drywall where he was going to trim the bottom, I told him I wanted it shorter to match the adjacent trimmed drywall.  There was no questioning and he delivered just as I requested.  He kept things as neat as possible.  Antonio arrived about an hour later to check on progress and asked if I needed anything else.  He noticed there was a hole on one of the kitchen walls (where the old backsplash was pulled out) and couple nails on our ceiling from a previous roofing project).  He volunteered to fix the hold on the wall and caulk the ceiling nails with no extra charge.  Before Antonio left, he asked me if I needed anything else and instructed me to pay his worker when everything was done. Overall I was satisfied. They covered my furniture and appliance with plastic before he sprayed texture on my drywall.  The worker completed the project in little less than 3 hours and cleaned up after.  He finished faster than was estimated as he went straight to business and didn't waste time. He asked me to take a look around to make sure I was satisfied before he left.

"They worked steadily each day and did a very, very good job.  I have  seen drywall work done on other sites, but none compares to the quality of their work.  They were very easy to communicate with and explained in detail what they were doing......This is a 2700 sq. ft. home and I am so glad that I used  Mudslingers Drywall........I highly recommend them in terms of reasonable costs and quality of work.  You will be glad you called them."

"Showed up on time, installed a cricket(which we had never heard of) to raise the pitch of the roof. Have not had any measurable amount of rain to check for leaks except 1 small rain chance in July, roof did not leak. This is the first time after 16 years of owning house we ever heard of the use of a cricket. 5 or 6 repairmen later, we believe the repair this time will stick. Thank goodness.

Drywall questions, answered by experts

A common cause of separation between a wall and the ceiling is truss lift—this can happen to the ceiling of rooms directly under the attic when the seasons change and wood building materials dry out, shrink, and shift. Roof trusses often dry out at different speeds, and if the bottom pieces dry out faster than the top pieces, they can shrink and pull the attached drywall away from ceilings and walls, causing cracks. Fortunately, truss lift is only a cosmetic problem, not a structural problem, and you can fix it by separating the ceiling drywall from the roof trusses, and patching the cracks.

When used correctly, drywall patch kits can work well. However, there are limitations. Specifically, these kits can only cover holes up to 5 inches in diameter. For anything larger than that, you’ll need to cut out the affected section of drywall and replace it with a new piece. That’s a far more complicated process that involves buying the right type of drywall, finding the wall studs, cutting into your wall, and screwing the replacement drywall in place.

The two most common drywall thicknesses for ceilings are 1/2-inch and 5/8-inch. For most standard residential applications, 1/2-inch drywall is sufficient and widely used. It provides adequate support and is lighter and easier to handle during installation compared to thicker sheets. However, 5/8-inch drywall is often used for specific cases where additional benefits are needed. It is heavier but provides superior sound dampening and fire resistance. You should consider using 5/8-inch drywall for ceilings in commercial buildings, between a garage and a living space, or above a finished basement to meet building codes or for enhanced soundproofing.

Drywall texture refers to the techniques used on the surface of drywall to create a pleasing visual or tactile effect. Depending on your desired outcome, drywall texture can range from incredibly subtle to a focal point of a room. Textures play a significant role in interior design and are an excellent and relatively cost-effective way to change the feeling of a room.

Wet-sanding and dry-sanding each have pros and cons. Dry-sanding is less messy, so it’s a good option if you’re trying to minimize dust (for example, if you’re sanding an occupied home or working with particularly dry or dusty drywall mud). However, dry-sanding is quicker because you don’t have to keep rinsing a sponge or wait for it to dry before painting.
