"We needed work done on a 60+ year old sliding glass patio door! Door would not slide correctly and was continually getting off the track. I sent out a plea for help thru Next Door and within a few minutes was contacted by William with Patio Door Pro. Told him of the problem and he told me how he could fix it. Gave me a quote during our call and set up a time that he could be there to take care of the problem. Two days later he arrived right on time with his brother to assist. Got right to work and after a trip to Home Depot for new rollers had it fixed better than new in no time! Cannot say enough good things about this young man! A prehung door is a door that comes ready to install, already mounted in its frame with hinges and stop molding included. Because everything is factory-aligned, installation is quicker, more precise, and convenient, as you don't need to drill or align the hinges yourself. This makes it a smart option if your current frame is damaged, uneven, or if you're working on a new build. Installation involves fitting the entire unit into the rough opening, shimming and leveling it, and then securing it. If you are replacing an existing prehung door, the process is even simpler, often just requiring you to swap the old unit for the new one and secure it with a few screws. Prehung doors typically cost only slightly more (around $20) than a door slab alone, making them an efficient choice.

Kick plates can absolutely be installed on metal doors. Many kick plates for metal doors are magnetic to avoid needing to drill into the metal, but many door manufacturers make kick plates that can be traditionally installed on metal doors using screws. Consult the manufacturer’s instructions to see which is recommended for your door model.

You can attach the hinges to either the door or the frame first, depending on your preference. The order will not affect how the door hangs or the ease of installation. However, we recommend starting with the top hinge over the bottom one for stability, as it’s much easier to support the door from below while you install the top hinge.
