"The work done looks to be a good job, though the plastic housing around the water outlets and washer drain melted some from the pipe welding of the lower section before he could thread a spigot on the pipe. Also, good clean-up from the drywall dust. He showed up at the later end of the scheduled time but then this was the last call of the workday and we all know there are typical delays. I presented the $40 A.L. coupon and got no argument at all about redeeming it when paying the bill."

French Drains questions, answered by experts

When you put baking soda and vinegar down the drain, they chemically react and help break down clogs. It’s not going to work for every type of clog, however. For example, it’s not the best way to get rid of grease buildup. For grease, you should try boiling water and white vinegar instead.

Inspect regularly for clogs, clean drain lines, and ensure grading directs water away from the foundation.

To unclog a plumbing vent, you first need to locate it. Look at your home's roofline. The plumbing vent will be a vertical pipe sticking straight up from the roof. Since this pipe runs all the way to the main drain underneath your house, you should also be able to find it in the attic.

While you don’t have to run out and immediately buy a new toilet at the first sign of a clog, if the toilet keeps clogging because it’s a low-flow or poorly designed model, a new toilet may be the way to go. If your toilet keeps clogging, you can try using less toilet paper, adjusting the fill valve, checking the toilet vent pipe on the roof, and using a toilet auger to make sure nothing is stuck in the pipe or trap.

If you leave liquid drain cleaner for too long, it will start breaking down your drainpipes. The chemicals in these cleaners can cause cracks, corrosion, and leaks in your pipes. They can also damage plumbing fixtures and even cause environmental damage if left too long without rinsing away.
