"This moving company offered exceptional service with a four man crew. All of them were friendly and very professional. My crew members were Fredo, Mario, Lalo, and Dre. AI estimated my move would take between 7-8 hours, but this crew of superhumans knocked it out in 5.5 hours without breaking or scratching a thing. They wrapped many of our items to ensure everything was well protected and managed to fit our 4 bedroom (plus office) home in one load in a 26 foot truck! They exceeded our expectations, and I would recommend them to anyone in the area. Best moving experience I’ve ever had by far. Thanks again Big Daddy’s Moving!"

"All Service Moving was exceptional. Great customer service - easy to schedule and flexible. Royce & Frost did an AMAZING job moving all of our very heavy and fragile belongings. They handled all of our requests and items with care and worked both efficiently and quickly. They were super friendly and very customer service oriented. "I recommended this company to a friend since I moved with them before. He called them and they paid him a visit to assess his move. He lived in a small building without elevator thus moving the furniture would be a little complicated. At the end of the day he moved without any issue, his furniture and appliances arrived in destination safe and with no damages. Everything was properly packed and protected. My friend called me and told me his experience gratefully."

"The moving crews on both ends of the trip were prompt, efficient, and courteous. This was a cross-country move, and it would have required several trips if we had rented a truck and moved ourselves, and the cost would have been almost as much. We were pleasantly surprised at the end of the move when the final price was significantly less than the estimate."

Moving questions, answered by experts

Renting a moving truck is often the cheapest way to move long-distance, with costs ranging from $1,000 to $2,100. For smaller moves with fewer items, a moving container can cost as little as $700. As the distance of your move increases, using moving pods or containers can become more cost-effective because you can ship them to your destination and avoid transportation costs like gas, mileage, and lodging.

The first step in moving a house is to provide blueprints and assess which parts of the house you can move. The next steps are obtaining permits, inspecting the structure, securing road permits, and getting bank approval.

When it's time to move, professionals can prepare the house by disconnecting utilities, removing items, and adding support braces. The house is then lifted with steel beams, jacked up, and placed on dollies for transport. Once it’s at the new location, it gets lowered onto the new foundation, utilities get reconnected, and additional features, like porches or garages, are added.

Yes: Many moving companies also offer packing services, so you can get a quote that covers the entire move from start to finish.

The cost of a long-distance move depends on several factors, including whether you hire movers, use a moving truck, and the size of your move. For a 1,000-mile move, you’ll need to hire interstate movers and ask them for an estimate based on the details of your move. Keep in mind that a 1,000-mile move will likely cost $10,000 or more.

It’s best to book local movers about three months in advance to ensure your moving date is available, as most of the time, you’ll have a fairly tight window for moving your belongings. When booking your moving date, provide your moving team with as much detailed information as possible to prepare for the big day. Let your movers know an estimate of how many boxes they’ll move, any large or bulky items, number of bedrooms in your current home, the type of moving vehicle, and more.
