We are a family business and have been since 1979 when Dan White decidied to take a chance and start his own company making window screens and doing odds and ends handyman projects. As time went on Dan began to focus and specialize in making, repairing, and servicing screens, glass doors, and screen porches. I (Doug White) began working full time with my Dad in 1984. We have always taken pride in our workmanship and service, and will continue to do so.

"Doug White answered my telephone inquiry on same day and gave me an estimate two days later. We then requested and received HOA approval and gave Doug the go ahead with work. Doug emailed us with a time estimate for work to be performed; total time from start to finish was approximately six weeks. Doug had estimated seven to eight weeks but was able to work our project in to his work schedule because he had another job in same vicinity. We are totally pleased with his work; he has also screened all of our windows. Totally recommend Dan's Screens & Things."

"I was on the market for a security system and this one seemed easy enough to install.......went through the process and some of the window sensors were not working. I called Customer Support who was very friendly and we went through the entire process again...this time other window sensors did not work. This went on for a week or so...then the door senors stopped working....than the motion sensor stopped working...at no time in over a month did I have a fully operational security system. As I was about to return the system I was told they have "new" sensors and they just realized they received a bad batch and are working with another company.....Gave it a try....and same issue returned....some sensors worked....some didn't. I finally returned the system and stopped getting emails.....only to find that they were still billing my credit card even after I returned the equipment. Very nice people and very understanding.....unfortunately their product is not up to par. While we do have a large home, it's an open concept and the sensors that weren't working were no more than 15ft away from the base. The previous owners of my house had a wireless system with no issues at all.....I'm going to be using that company going forward."

On average, professionally applied residential window tinting can last anywhere from five to 25 years. The quality of the film material and installation help to determine if film will stay. In addition, gently cleaning windows with film can increase their longevity. Harsh and abrasive cleaners, alcohol-based and ammonia-based cleaners, and sharp scraping tools and scrubbers can all prematurely destroy the film's surface. Use a microfiber towel and gentle cleaning solutions to get rid of dirt and residue to prolong a tint's lifespan.

Typically, triple-pane windows made with krypton gas filling are the most energy efficient. A window’s frame, glass, design, and installation all affect its energy efficiency. These windows, in particular, are designed highly effectively in terms of their ability to insulate.

Some frosted glass sprays can handle the outdoors, but most of them aren't built for it. Sprays made for exterior use will say so clearly on the label. Anything marked “interior use only” can't hold up against rain, UV exposure, or changing temperatures without peeling, fading, or yellowing. Outdoor-rated sprays are typically more durable, but even then, proper prep and application matter. Before spraying anything outside, double-check the product instructions. If it doesn’t specifically mention exterior use, skip it. 

You can tint the windows in your house to about 50% or lower if you want the windows to boost your privacy. This tint will make your windows much darker, making it more difficult for people passing by to see inside your home. However, keep in mind that tints this dark can be thick, which may mean you lose out on any energy-efficiency benefits.

The life span of window tints depends on the type of window and tint, but a high-quality, professionally applied tint should last for at least 15 to 20 years. In fact, some companies offer lifetime warranties for their tints. But others might only offer a warranty for one year (or no warranty at all), so be sure to verify any warranties with your preferred window tinting service and take good care of your windows after the tint is applied.
