"William, Carl and thier crew are first rate. The quality of thier work is incredible. They are accomodating, professional, and are very fair with their pricing. The construction quality was so good on my bungalo that was built a year and a half ago, I decided to have the patio enclosed as well which was recently completed. I have braging rights in my neighborhood now. Very soon they will be replacing all th exterior of my home with "Hardywood" and painting. Please include these folks a try with you bidding process.I am very happy I found them. Joseph S."

"We had Bordeaux Luxury Homes do a complete home remodel for us, inside and out. The results were outstanding. Our kitchen is the envy of many. The replaced the stone fireplace with a single piece of quartz that goes from floor to ceiling and installed a stainless steel mantel. It is beautiful. Installed pot lights in the kitchen, dining room, living room and bathrooms and now light is everywhere. The crown molding, with all the twists and turns, is impeccable. I could go on and on, and I believe you get the idea that these folks are true artists of home remodeling."

"Allan & the guys working at AC Cornerstone do quality work. They built my house in 2005. I know they build quality because I watched the attention to detail and selection of quality materials that last. In 16 years, I've had only minor/expected maintenance issues. Everything still works. No cracks in the rock. This house is solid and built to last decades. I love this house. Building anything can be stressful with 1000's of choices and unanticipated problems. Allan's friendly personality takes away the stress and he has the knowledge/experience to solve or work around any problem. Happy Long-term Customer"

"Tyler came out and provided an estimate for our new patio extension, and a little more than a week later it was complete. SPS stood by their estimate and both Tyler and Jesus were very prompt in returning calls and messages. Even the next day, after the concrete was poured and the surface didn't quite look the way we had envisioned, they had their crew back out and made it right. I would definitely recommend them to my friends and neighbors and am also considering them for other small projects around the house."

"Robert and his crew did some extensive remodeling for my needs. He installed a new full bathroom, remodeled one bathroom for wheelchair access, and remodeled a third bathroom. His crew installed new tile floors, and repaired the old tile floors. They installed wide doors exterior doors to accommodate wheelchair. And they enclosed a patio into an insulated sun-room. Robert was easy to work with, and was real reasonable. He also did a lot of work under Veterans Administration and ADA guidelines and was qualified and approved to do veteran Adapted Housing. I highly recommend Robert and his crew."

Storm Shelters questions, answered by experts

Technically, there isn't a difference between safe rooms and storm shelters. Both are designed to protect you from storms and extreme weather events. People often use “safe room” when discussing a shelter inside a building and storm shelter when talking about a detached unit.

Additionally, a safe room is understood to have more functions than a storm shelter. You may seek shelter in a safe room when you believe an intruder is in the home or when under another type of threat.

The early stages of building a house are harder than the later stages; laying the foundation and framing the house are two of the most challenging steps. However, it varies for everyone. Some people have difficulty installing HVAC, plumbing, and electricity, while others find it harder to plan the house and secure the necessary permits.

In most cases, yes, an outdoor living space adds value to your home. The trick to your best return on investment is to choose high-quality building materials that will look nice and durable without crossing the line into total luxury that becomes cost-ineffective. For example, there’s no need to install marble tiles around your pool, but a durable and aesthetically pleasing deck will go a long way.

It is recommended that you check with your local building official on barn building requirements and rules, since size restrictions vary greatly from region to region based on what your property is zoned for. Some cities limit barn construction depending on if your property is residential or commercial. The three main factors your building commission will evaluate are:

  • Height and lot coverage: How tall your barn is and how much of your total property it occupies

  • Setback: Distance between barn and property line

  • Easement: Legal right for another owner to access another’s property

Common pitfalls include underestimating the cost of site preparation, overlooking permit and utility fees, and not setting aside funds for unexpected changes. Change orders during construction can disrupt your budget. It’s best to plan a detailed budget, obtain multiple quotes, and include a 10% to 15% contingency fund for unexpected expenses.
