"I absolutely love my new fence. Thank you Texas Fence. I was not sure who to have install my fence. I found by researching Texas Fence that they have been in business for twenty years, are a member of the Better Business Bureau with an A+ rating, and had wonderful reviews. Adriana Medina (sales consultant) came and took measurements. She listened to what I wanted in my new fence and made a few suggestions. She was very easy to talk to and knowledgeable about fences. Jose Garcia and his helper (fence installers) took down the old fence and put up the new fence. Jose put up a cedar board on board fence, made three walk through gates, and a double wide gate. Jose and his helper did a fantastic job. You can tell they take pride in their work. Les Perkins (project manager) answered any questions I had about the project. Dave Malcom (fence technician) came and did a little fine tuning. He also came up with a clever way to hide the 1 inch gap in the double wide gate that I could see into the backyard. I know that wouldn't bother anyone else, but it bothered me. Now, thanks to Dave, it's perfect. I would definitely recommend Texas Fence. I'm very pleased with my new fence."

"Sigma is fantastic.
They repaired and reset a wrought iron fence and gate for us and did a great job. They were professional, timely and really knew what they are doing. The owners were great to deal with and the crew followed through perfectly. We will be doing more with Sigma.

"The company was quick to respond to my service request and send someone out to investigate my problem. The technician didn't have the needed part (the gate receiver had died), but was able to obtain a replacement part and install it within 24 hours. The technician was knowledgeable and the company was very quick to respond. I'll definitely call them again for service on my gate.

"The worker showed up in a timely manner, as promised.  He was professional looking and acting.  I left him home to complete the job by himself, while I went to work.
When we returned home the job was completed as promised.  A very nice, neat job was done and the area was cleaned up after completion.
I do beleive that they have grown too busy and are either not interested in taking just any job and/or they try to avoid using the phone as their primary source of communication.  (Which isn't really best for me unless you are a personal friend or family.)
This job was bid early in the year.  The original request was to do this work, install a gate in the back of the fence, and install a storage building.  We ended up having someone else install the building and did not have the work on the two gates done at that time.
I called on 9/10/13 to see if I could get someone out to do the gate repair as my dog escaped while we were at work.  The person who answered the phone remembered me, said they would pull the prior bid and get back with me.  After receiving no call back, my husband called late the next day to talk to them about doing the work on both gates, as originally discussed, but with changes.  No one ever returned my husband's call either.
After a few days I noticed that I had an email from them re-sending the original bid with no mention of doing the second gate or if someone would need to first come out to provide a bid on the changes to the second gate work.
I responded to the email, asking what steps needed to be taken and needed clarification quickly (meaning a phone call) as I needed to get something done with the broken gate soon so that the dog would not again get out.
At this point I am completely discouraged at the unability to speak with a live person, but did receive a rather cryptic email stating they would be there in the "AM".  With still no acknowledgement of our numerous requests to include the addition of the back gate and still no phone calls, nor a clear understanding of what day in the "AM" someone was going to show up on, I asked for clarification of the day the work was schedule.
Fortunately, someone showed up as scheduled and completed the repair on the broken gate.  The next day after the work was performed I finally recieved a phone call from someone requesting I mail the payment.  Even then she did not want to give me the address over the phone but wanted to email or text it to me?  Even at that, I never received that email or text providing me with their mailing address.
We decided to look further for someone to perform the rest of the work.

"

Tim's Fences installed 1. an automatic iron driveway gate, 2. built a new cedar fence and cedar gate and 3. built an iron fence on top of an existing brick wall and installed a new iron gate.  After they finished the 8' cedar fence I decided I wanted a portion of it to be 6' high.  They came back and cut it down to 6' at a reasonable price.

The fence looks great.  Installation was completed over a couple of days.  I'd recommend Tim's Fences and would use them again.

Gate Repair questions, answered by experts

To make your gate safe, purchase a gate made from strong material such as wrought iron, stainless steel, or other metals. Ensure that the gate has strong joints and bars that are welded on rather than inserted loosely. If you’re concerned about people climbing over your gate, you can deter them by installing fence spikes along the top as an extra precaution.

A Trex gate costs $750 plus another $200 for the hardware pack necessary for installation. By contrast, Trex fencing ranges in price from $22 to $38 per linear foot, so you may pay a lot or a little depending on just how much space you need to enclose in your yard.

Installing a gate on your property is often a worthwhile investment, despite the initial expense. Gates enhance your home's curb appeal and can increase its property value, making them more attractive to potential homebuyers. They provide significant security benefits by keeping out unwanted guests and increasing privacy for your household. Additionally, a gate can help keep children and pets safely contained in your yard.

For driveway gates, automatic versions are particularly convenient and tend to add more value than manual ones. The choice of gate material also plays a role in both aesthetic appeal and security. Beyond driveways, side gates can improve accessibility to your rear yard, making the outdoor space more usable. Overall, whether for security, safety, or aesthetics, installing a gate is a valuable addition to a property.

The cost to install a gate varies widely, with a typical range between $1,500 and $7,000. The average cost is around $3,500. However, the final price can be as low as $200 for a simple gate or as high as $12,000 for a large, automated security gate.

Key factors that determine the installation cost include:

  • Gate Material: This is a primary cost factor. Chain-link and vinyl are the most affordable, while wood and PVC are mid-range options. Wrought iron, aluminum, and other metals are the most expensive materials.

  • Automation: Automated gates are significantly more expensive than manual ones because they require motors, sensors, controls, and electrical installation.

  • Size and Type: The dimensions and style of the gate (e.g., swinging vs. sliding) will impact the price.

  • Security Level: Gates with advanced security features will increase the overall cost.

Automatic gates don’t use too much electricity, and you should see a minimal effect on your utility bill. In fact, certain gate systems are entirely self-sufficient and rely on solar panels attached to or near the gate to power the motor. While a gate is large and there is a powerful motor moving it, it’s not something that sees constant use throughout the day. For most automatic gates, expect to see a utility bill increase of only around $10 per month.
