This was early December, and I was told we would have the door customized to our specifications and installed before Christmas. I was told someone would give me a call in a few days to set up a time to meet at the house and measure up and discuss what exactly we wanted and finalize the design. I was a little concerned when I called the second time and they had absolutely no idea who I was, had no record of what we had discussed and they even asked me what the amount they quoted me was.
Christmas came and went and never heard a word for them. We traveled out of town over New Year's and I planned to give them a call when I got back to town on January 2nd.
When we did get home on January 2nd, there was a really ugly gate installed. Apparently they had skipped the measuring up process, and ignored the design we asked for. Just came by without an appointment, and while no one was home, and proceeded to remove our old door and install a new gate (that wasn't what we asked for). Among other details, we had specifically asked for a gate that was flat across the top, this one had a large ornate arch. We had asked for a mesh screen installed over the entire gate, it wasn't there. We had asked for a specific lock (which they quoted us $270 for), and what we got was the standard one you get at home depot for $20. On the day they installed the gate, they went ahead and charged my credit card for the remaining 50% - without ever speaking to us, a charge I would not have authorized since the work was not at all what we ordered. I had to call my bank to dispute the charge.
I called US Security Gate the next day. Got a lot of apologizing, and was told that someone would call me to set up a time and come by and remove the gate they installed and get the details on exactly what we wanted (even though we had already given this to them 3 times).
Never heard from them, but the next day I got home from work and again, someone had come by without any notice and while no one was home. Instead of removing the gate as they had said, someone just came by and cut the arched part off the top of the gate. That was it.
Yet again, I called US Security Gate and got more apologies and was told this didn't usually happen and there had been some miscommunication with their staff.
I gave a full description of what we wanted, once again. A couple days after that, they did manage to get us a new gate. It was close to what we ordered but still had a few issues with it.
At that point I just gave up. Dealing with US Security Gate was such a frustrating and painful experience. I didn't want to even ask for anything else, because I have no confidence they were competent to do it and I really don't like the idea of people coming to my house without notice, and when no one is home and performing work on my house - especially on the security features of the house (you would think a company called US Security Gate would be sensitive to that sort of thing).
Overall, it was a huge headache and a massive source of frustration. US Security Gate had people working on my house without any notice at least 3 times, and we ended up with a disappointing and over priced product.
"Just look at the rest of our reviews obviously its not US Security Gate that failed. In early December US Security Gate received a call from the customer asking for a quote on model number SEC 03 on our website www.ussecuritygate.com an arched gate with mesh at the bottom. The customer was informed as all our customers that we would be happy to send out a representative in person at no cost to discuss the project. The customer had no time for us and simply wanted to order the gate over the phone.US Security Gate installed the gate Sec 03 to exact specifications.Shortly after the customer called saying the gate was arched on top and not flat and the mesh was only at the bottom and not all the way up that does not describe his order of Sec 03 that we delivered.Still at our cost we went back and changed it to his modifications that does not come close to the model he picked out. As far as workers showing up with out him knowing countless calls from myself Henry Betancourt owner, were left as we always inform our customers of there installations. The customer was unavailable and appeared to be out of town. We have many customers and need to install according to the schedule quoted which we did. We can not delay installations over a single ones unavailability especially at Christmas when many wanted completion for the holiday! Again we delivered exactly what the customer ordered and a review submitted almost 2 months later is ridiculous to a company with nothing but excellent reviews and a company that was Angie's List honor roll in January 2012."
We needed the contractor to re-program the garage-door opener receiver about three months after installation. It lost the frequency carried by the remotes. The technician, instead of doing this, was able to remove the additional receiver and re-program the garage-door opener's native receiver itself, removing the need for the additional receiver. We required new remotes, but these were provided free of charge by the contractor under their warranty. Outstanding service, once again, and demonstrates a commitment to follow-up customer service and upholding of a warranty. In addition, once again, scheduling was easy and the technician arrived on time with all the equipment and parts that he needed.
