HRR has performed work on a couple properties since 2014. Much of the work was to correct problems left by a previous contractor. Services ranged from floor tile, painting, a/c work, Sheetrock repair, plumbing, appliance installation, blind installation, etc. They manage change requests efficiently and provide cost before work is started. I trust Phil and his contractors with full access to the properties if I am not there.

The service worked mostly well, but there were some issues that were not resolved yet. We are still under the two year warranty with them. They responded very quickly the first time we called. They do small jobs. The pricing was good and also with the quality of the work. Their responsiveness during the work was very good, but it was a little bit lacking afterwards for recalls or warranty work. I probably would not use them again in the future because they are too far away. They are just spread too thin.

My husband and I looked them up and they have about 119 positive comments. I have no idea how they got that many because of the way the treated me. I have a feeling that they have found a way to circumvent Angie’s List’s system and got their friends or somebody to go online and put in positive feedback. I got other bids, a lot of them were much higher, and there was one lower. When the project started, they brought out a crew of kids. They didn’t do a really good job. They took out a window on the backside of my house and they realized that they have the wrong size. When they took the window out, they broke the glass out so they couldn’t put it back in. They had to put the incorrect window back in and shimmed it up with 2 x 4's. I wanted them to get the front door, two correct windows and the sliding patio door and put it all in one trip. Because of the way they operate, they must slope their money from one job to the next. I wasn’t willing to give them any more money. They took a month to get back to me. When they came back, it was kids again. They did a frame around the inside of my front door and they pieced it. I said that that doesn’t look right. The owner came out and yelled at the son in front of everybody instead of taking his side. I don’t know who this guy is or whose company is but I don’t think he should be on Angie’s List at all. They didn’t order my right glass. They stocked in another piece of glass and said they ordered and they’ll come back out. I kept calling and they never returned my call. There was some wrought when they took out the front window and so they fixed that for an additional amount. When the job was done, we discounted the glass because the glass they put in was wrong. They didn’t do all the painting. I gave them less than what the original bid was but they never came back. At that point, my husband and I were set up and they were probably the same way. I wanted only to have them out here on a minimal amount of time. They windows are fine. When they put the sliding patio door in and the way my house was set up, the kids didn’t realize that the sliding door needed to open from the left to the right. They put it in with its sliding from right to the left. I made them change it. He kept changing the cost on me. In the beginning, responsiveness was pretty good but in the end, it was horrible. I would never use them again nor would I recommend them.

This was a most stressful and disappointed experience in my WHOLE life!  What a drama!  It took FREAKING EIGHT months to renovate a 2000 square-foot house!  And it was not yet completed!!  Mr. Warwick seemed to be awfully concerned about himself instead of delivering quality and timely product as promised to me.  My life was upside down due to his missing several promised completion dates.  Nevertheless, I was paying the mortgage and utilities for Doliver without  the benefit of living in the property as well as costing me additional living expenses elsewhere.
As Mr.Warwick continually missed the promised deadlines I was forced to pursue outside options in order to complete my  unnecessarily
costly renovation.
Mr. Warwick appeared to be "over promise" and "under deliver" and non-professional.  At one time, he walked away from me.
He ever stated that he would be my renovation husband and would take care of everything for me.  I guessed I had been in a real bad marriage since then.  As of today, he still owed me $2,300 including the material and work that he agreed upon, which were the PREPAID filtration system and installation, and  the PREPAID work of changing the electrical box.
My job required international travels and domestic travels during the renovation time.  When I was out of town, he  left my house alone with my prepayments.
I was very upset and frustrated by his lack of proper supervision over the project as evidenced by several instances where mistakes were made.  The
picture window was not sealed properly which resulted in a serious leak.  The bathroom tiles were not only  installed improperly  but also in
the incorrect bathrooms which required reworking.  The painting job had major flaws which did not represent $5,700. The gutter downspout was thrown
away by mistake and never replaced resulting in excessive water draining on the electrical box, back wall and foundation. The window frame was not caulked properly(?cracked window?).  The exhaust fan holes were sealed in error.  And I just recently discovered that the guest room toilet water was running, I had to shut off the valve to stop it.  I intended to pay a skilled worker to install the toilets, not a 19 ?year-old boy who did not seem to have the solid experience to install them.  Perhaps if he would have properly supervised these and other Doliver projects his profit margins that
his complain about under paid would not be so thin.
I was very upset by his irresponsibility and lack of professionalism by seemingly avoiding my phone calls and not agreeing to meet with me personally at Doliver.  Other  examples include over-budgeted additional work discussed but  never finally agreed upon.  I had to push him to
pick up the wood floor as it sat at the store  warehouse too long due to his delay.  My friend,Greg and I had to make several trips ourselves to Home Depot to pick up materials that a general contractor should normally pick up.
I also questioned Mr. Warwick integrity.  He priced the bathroom sink faucets for $299.99 each without any supports, it was just because I told him to buy faucets for me, and the budget was within $300 each.  He kept telling me the gas line job for kitchen stove was 55% completed and charged me for 55% of $465. The true was the gas line was already in my laundry room and he did not need to move a finger to change it.  Worse thing was he forgot to tell his crew to extend that gas line to the kitchen for my stove.  And he quietly replaced  that job with other "work" and kept my money.  His tile guys refused to return to work because Mr. Warwick did not pay him.
In addition, he played a bad joke by sending me an email for returning my money.

Initial paint quote was $1800 for master bath, we settled at $900 because it was an add on and it was during slow Christmas season and I felt the initial offer was unreasonable. The tile guy used the cardboard from the tile box as spacers, so it came out a little uneven but still looks good. The carpentry was was fantastic, as was the paint. The big problem I had was that the contractor received final payment and did not complete the work. He did, however, finally repay us two months later after dragging us along with several excuses. In the meantime, he left the tub faucet and shower plumbing not complete. When he offered to refund the final payment with incomplete work, I was suspicious about the custom frameless shower door not being ordered when he said he ordered it in January. I called ARC glass and they told me he called but his credit card did not go through. I guess it is my fault for feeling sorry for him when he cut his hand and still tried to work to get partial payment to pay his workers. He did put up two light fixtures for free, but left the major plumbing undone and took final payment for almost three months. When we had plumbers finish the work they said he used galvanized fitting against brass fitting and had to redo the work. Lesson learned: trust no one and make final payment when work is completed, even if they are bleeding and desperate.
Response from Houston Repair & Remodeling
"A full requested refund was given to this customer in 2013, we made mistakes and owned up to them as all good people do. He requested the costs back and other fees which we gladly refunded a great many months ago. Also this review posted many months ago and was different as it did reflect the refund and now unless I am mistaken the fact that the refund was issued and has cleared in March of 2013 has been omitted, which is concerning and confusing. I am assuming this AL member is harboring some long standing ill will since this review was amended and changed a day ago. Please be clear that all people and groups make mistakes, it,s how the mistakes are handled that counts. This AL member listed out his terms to make it right and I complied, that should be what is important and be the end of it. So in conclusion, we admit our mistakes, we complied with their requests to correct them, we hope that this can now be behind all of us. Regards, HRR Services"

We have worked with Phil for years, and have had many repairs and installations done at our house. We looked for a handyman for a long time that we could trust (after being ripped off a couple of times), and we feel we can trust Phil with our repair work. We leave a key for him when he comes, and he takes care of everything while we're at work.

Initial phone call was quickly responded to and appointment setup. There was a mixup and nobody showed up to look at job and to quote. HOWEVER, the owner quickly responded to phone call concerning missed appointment, asked for pictures of damage to be sent to him and quickly provided a very fair quote! His girl Friday met me at my office in the middle of a thunderstorm to go over the contract and get the 50% upfront payment. I REALLY appreciated this! The workman showed up about an hour later than scheduled, however, this is completely understandable since the company has meetings in the morning. The workmen were fantastic. Neat and orderly and they worked hard. It was a 2 day job and each day they worked well into the evening. I have other jobs I would like to have done in the house and when the moneys are available, I will definitely use this company again.

My husband is very ill and the first thing he wanted was a shower, but we did not have a handicap shower, so I called Phillip and he came over right away, gave me an estimate and started right away.  He called later and told me the glass was going to cost more, but my husband will not be with us much longer so I don't care how much it costs, he wants a shower.  It took several days and I was impressed with the work his man was doing.  The next thing was painting my office.  He had 3 men come in and do the work.  They were very neat, cleaned up afterwards and did an excellent job.  I kept thinking of more things I wanted done, so as they finished one project, I added another.  They did an excellent job on each project.  Phillip was in and out frequently checking with me and checking on his men.  Everything is finished except installing the glass for the shower and the "glass man" will do that shortly.
He is not cheap, but if you want it done right the first time, Phillip's crew can do it.  AND, I have learned the hard way "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR."
I highly recommend Phillip Warwick, Houston Repair and Remodeling.

We contracted for this work in June 2014.  At the time, HRR Services was doing other work on our home, and Phillip (the manager) encouraged my husband to use HRR for the A/C replacement.  We were told that the replacement would be in after a week, two weeks at the most.  Because we were assured a quick installation and were told that the installation would not interfere with the other work going on at the house, we agreed.  We went through almost all of July, over a month, before the new unit was installed.  And this happened only after I followed up multiple times with Phillip.  Phillip first told me that his installer was busy, and then wasn't returning phone calls.  Phillip ended up using one of his crew members to install the unit.  Though the installation went smoothly, it took away from time that the crew could have been spending on the other repairs to the house. And after the unit was installed it needed repairs.  Those were addressed promptly after we notified HRR.
HRR would receive a better rating overall if not for the significant delay in installation and the unreliability of its outside AC installer.  We did like the crew member (Marcus) who ended up performing the installation.

We contracted for this work in early April and wrote a check for $5100 at the outset.  At the time, HRR Services was supposed to be finishing up the interior remodel of our home (they are still working on that as of the date of this review).  HRR's manager Phillip Warwick pushed hard for the roofing job.  When I expressed concern about timing and finishing up the interior of the home, he stated that he had a completely different crew that would do the roof job, and it would not interfere with the interior remodel.  We were slated to move into the home in early June and expected the roof to be underway at that point.  Unfortunately, HRR did not start on the roof job until July, and did not finish until August 8th.  Though the finished product looks fine (we'll see how it holds up over the next few years), I was very disappointed when it turned out that there was not a separate crew for the roof, and that the crew members who had been working on the interior of the house were taken out onto the roof for several weeks (further postponing the completion of the interior remodel).  I wish I had been told this initially.
I will say that the price we received for the roof was good, as Phillip was willing to price match another quote we got, and gave the standard 5 year warranty on labor).  However, I felt like the price match made us a lower-priority job for him, and caused some of the delay we had to deal with.

Once finished with the rain delays of the previous week, since a door replacement was involved, they came in and completed the repair items on my list in one day. I was very pleased with this and it was well worth waiting out the rain delays.

Damien and Oscar were pleasant, focused on their tasks and could easily see they enjoy doing what they do.

I very much appreciated Phillip taking the time to listen and then recommend a good material cost solution as opposed to going high end materials and pushing my costs higher than necessary.  Julie, the Chief Admin Officer, kept me informed through email, text and phone calls from start to finish.

HRR is a class act, and I will use again in the future without hesitation.

The team was very prompt and expedient.  They finished both jobs timely but with care.  You can see above as to what services they provided.  They do require a deposit which is normal and they provide warranties on their work.  We would definitely use them again for future projects we have on our home.

The spring on my attic stair assembly was broken and the stairs would not stay up without screwing it shut. It was not repairable. Phillip showed up on time with his assistant and was very pleasant and professional. They replaced the stair assembly with a metal one that can be repaired if there is a problem. They also put in a new attic door in the ceiling and painted everything. I was totally happy with their work and will be using them for a laundery list of handyman and honey-do jobs. They do everything except garage doors.
