"It’s important to hire people who have experience in their field. I had quotes and explanations from four companies and felt confident that I can trust Chuck and his plan. This was confirmed by my insurance company and the municipality’s inspection. Even my tenant said that unlike the others, Chuck took longer time and explained the three plans he had thoroughly. He sent me the plans right away. Upon contacting him, he set me an appointment with their financing department and the loan officer was very helpful in choosing the right loan for me. Alesha contacted me to schedule the repairs and she was professional yet friendly. Their work was inspected by two different plumbers and the municipality’s engineer and all went well. Their work is guaranteed and this gives me peace of mind."

Customers say: Super punctual

"He went above and beyond and did way better than expected. He actually rebar and concrete my limestone bricks around my house and cleaned all the beds out, actually added mortar to my bricks and made a beautiful flower bed all the way around my house and he actually put water drain pipes in between some bricks so Water doesn?t pile up in my beds. This guy is awesome. Totally recommend."

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

The most common cause of a clogged sump pump is natural debris buildup. As water enters the sump pit, it can carry small pieces of debris that build up over time, or the debris can get caught in the filter. If you forget to cover the pit after cleaning the sump pump and pit, debris can also collect in the pit. Corrosion on the metal discharge pipe can also clog the pump. Additionally, if your pipes freeze, it can prevent water from draining properly and cause a clog.

In some cases, operating a snake can damage your drain and pipes. This depends on the overall condition of your pipes and how gently you operate the auger. For instance, older galvanized pipes covered in zinc are susceptible to scratches when using a drain snake. Additionally, it’s common for newbies to apply too much force when extending the snake, leading to scratches and related damage. You can also crack the porcelain with an electric auger if you’re snaking a toilet drain. If you’re using a manual snake or auger, the risk is minimal.

The best drain cleaners are biodegradable ones or a mixture of baking soda and vinegar. Strong, caustic chemicals may seem appealing with promises of unclogging your drain quickly, but liquid drain cleaners can cause damage to your pipes over time. Consider making your own drain cleaner with baking soda and vinegar.

Using less toilet paper is the easiest way to prevent future clogs. Also, avoid flushing sanitary products, thick paper towels, or hair down the toilet. If you’ve been using a brick in the tank to reduce the water used to flush the toilet, take it out immediately. Bricks will eventually fall apart and clog your toilet drain. Keeping your toilet lid closed also helps avoid future clogs.

If you try a drain snake and various DIY methods for unclogging drains to no avail, bring in a professional plumber to assess the situation. Also, if multiple drains in your home are backing up or you smell sewage, a visit from a plumber is best. You can expect your drain cleaning costs to fall around $250, and this can include an assessment of what’s caught in your plumbing and if there’s a larger, underlying problem. You should also consider calling a pro if you need to snake a toilet, as DIYing this could lead to a cracked fixture.
