"We hired Mike Ball's company to clear out a badly overgrown and waterlogged part of our yard, to install a stone patio, improve the drainage, and create flower beds. They did a fantastic job! Mike really knows his stuff, giving us good ideas about design and landscaping. They also worked quickly but thoroughly, were very reliable, cleaned up thoroughly after themselves, and were priced very reasonably. Very happy customers; we'll definitely be back!"

"I USED THEN BEFORE AND ASKED FOR THE SAME SERVICEMAN. IT SEEMS LIKE THIS COMPANY HAS A 2 TIER SYSTEM. SOME OF THE SERVICEMEN ARE COMMISSIONED SALESPEOPLE AND SOME ARE SALARIED. THE SERVICEMAN WE HIRED IS SALARIED AND DOESN'T NEED TO SELL YOU ANYTHING TO GET PAID. I SUGGEST ASKING FOR THAT SERVICEMAN OR ANOTHER SALARIED PERSON FOR THE BEST PRICE AND SERVICE."

"We really liked the choice of Belgard Mega Arbel as a paver to complete our patio. Unfortunately, the Belgard web site listed the paver as 80mm thick, which would not fit under our patio door. Although we were considering using a thinner paver over the existing patio, and then transitioning to Mega Arbel for the new, a different contractor had suggested that would not look good, and bid the job using just a thinner paver.
After contacting Jay at Advanced Curb Appeal for a second quote, he sent us to a local Belgard location where we found the Mega Arbel now comes in a 60mm size, which would fit under our patio door. I asked Jay to bid the Mega Arbel in brittany beige, with a Belgard Urbana border in gray. I also found that Advanced Curb Appeal was willing to install drainage pipe and replace the fence and gate, which I had him bid.
I had done some research and thought it would be good to use a woven geotextile fabric under the base, Jay said if I provided it, they would install it at no additional cost. The other contractor would not install it.
The Advanced Curb Appeal quote included the more expensive Mega Arbel paver, a thicker base than the other contractor bid, and the installation of Geotextile fabric under the base, yet the paver portion of the quote was 30% cheaper than the other bid.
We accepted the Advanced Curb Appeal bid.
We were hoping to having the pavers install start when the patio addition by another contractor was scheduled to complete, which should have been soon after signing with Advanced Curb Appeal. Unfortunately, there was some rework needed on the new addition that delayed the completion by the other contractor. Jay kept in touch to find when he could schedule the install, and we were eventually able to have the job started.
Once started, Jay and/or his partner Jamison, and a crew of up-to 3 people worked everyday, except one rainy day, over a 10 day period to complete the job.
The Mega Arbel paver is not a square paver, but has a variated geometry. To cut these straight along walls takes some skill. Jamison, working on a Sunday, cut each piece around the patio perfectly.
We are very happy with the work Jay, Jamison and their company performed at our house, and have already recommended them to others.

"They exceeded our highest expectations. They arrived on time and started on time. All of the workers were knowledgeable, professional, polite and courteous. They went above and beyond what the job called for. After painting the newly installed porch the gave all of the ledges and door edge a fresh coat of paint so everything looked new and matched. Their attention to detail throughout the entire project was excellent. When finished, they left the workplace clean and better than when they found it. I highly recommend this company."

Aquarium Services questions, answered by experts

Your sewer line can get grimy quickly. To prevent sludge buildup in your sewer line, pour a mixture of 1/3 cup of vinegar and 1/3 cup of baking soda down each drain in your home once a month. After about 30 minutes, flush the drain with hot water.

Some plumbers recommend 3/4 cup of bleach instead to clean any germs and bacteria that may build up in your sewer line. But this won’t break down any active clogs, and it cannot be combined with vinegar, as the mixture will create a toxic, hazardous gas.

You could be smelling sewer gas in your kitchen because of a dry P-trap, clogged vent pipe, or leaking plumbing seals. If you smell a rotten egg odor, check your sink’s P-trap and plumbing connections first. A clogged or damaged vent pipe can trap sewer gas and push it back into your kitchen through the plumbing pipes. Loose or deteriorated seals around drainpipes can also allow sewer gas to leak out. If you can’t find the source, call a local plumber for expert help.

A septic tank always has some amount of liquid in it—which should usually be 8 to 12 inches from the top of the tank. If the liquid level is higher than that or is overflowing the drainage pipe that leads out to the leach field, the tank may be too full and in need of pumping.

Most septic tanks need to be emptied every 3 to 5 years, but it’s a good idea to monitor the fill levels of your septic tank all the time. You can do this by installing a pressure level sensor to detect the internal tank pressure, or by having a septic tank company perform an annual inspection to let you know when you’ll need to pump the tank.

There are several signs that can indicate your leach lines are broken, failing, or in need of repair, including puddles of water or a marshy consistency to the ground above or around the pipes, slow drainage or plumbing backups inside your home, and noticeable odors or gurgling sounds coming from your leach field. Keeping your septic system properly maintained, including having your septic tank pumped at regular intervals, can help ensure your leach lines stay in good working order for a long time.
