Disabled Veteran Owned & Operated HVAC & Plumbing company proudly serving Eastern Tennessee. Why LJS Mechanical? When Ethan decided to transition out of the Army, he went back into HVAC & Plumbing full time. With over 5+ years of industry experience, and a company combined total of over 15 years we like to be confident in knowing there is not much we haven’t seen. However, we started to notice a trend that only seems to get worse every day in the industry, lack of quality and integrity. There has also been a large increase in big-name companies with large marketing budgets that do not have the customer’s needs in mind. At least twice a week we would come across unfinished work, sloppy shortcuts, or stories of overpriced and oversold quotes. Out of frustration, it pushed us to create LJS Mechanical. We believe in doing the hard work no one else wants to do, being efficient, transparent, and doing it right the first time at the best possible price. Here at LJS Mechanical, we will never push you for a service you do not need, inflate prices for personal gain, or leave a job without our clients satisfied. We started this company for you, the customer, and we won’t quit until you are happy with the service we have provided!

"Great. Very knowledgeable and friendly. And didn’t try to do work that wasn’t necessary."

Residential and business water treatment systems. Water softeners, UV lights. We will analyze your water for contaminants such as chlorine, low pH, iron, bacteria, and devise a system to suit your needs. Treat your water from the source, as it enters your home, so whether you are drinking it, cooking with it or bathing in it, your water is pure.

"The process was quick and easy. I just provided a water sample. It was determined that I had high levels of chlorine in our drinking water. I was able to solve my water problems with only one filter. Why did I wait years to have this done? Now I can be confident that our water is safe. Highly recommended."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

The main difference between water softeners and water filters is that softeners remove hard minerals from the water, while filters have more of a blanket effect, removing all contaminants above a certain size. Filters are also much less expensive to install and protect against bacteria and other impurities. Depending on your water supply, you may need both.

Water softener installation costs vary, but on average, homeowners will pay between $200 and $6,000. Due to their location, complexity, type of unit, and water demands, water softeners have a very wide price range. That being said, the average installation cost for most homes is around $1,500.

You can install a water softener system by turning off the water supply, draining the water, and then connecting your device to the waterline. Next, you’ll fill your tank with the recommended amount of salt or brine (whichever your unit calls for; be sure to read the instructions). Turn the water supply on and check for leaks. You can opt to let your water run for a few minutes, then test it using strips.

The process of inspecting your water softener system is similar.

Most of the U.S. has hard water, especially across portions of the West and Midwest. The areas with the hardest water include parts of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, Illinois, North and South Dakota, Ohio, and New York. You’ll find soft water in parts of New England, the Southeast, the Pacific Northwest, and Hawaii.

Hard water doesn’t pose a risk to your physical health when you drink it. In fact, drinking hard water can help ensure you get enough of essential minerals like calcium in your daily diet. However, extremely hard water can contribute to dry skin and make your scalp itchy if you wash your hair in it too often.
