"My inverter went out and the company that installed my solar system went out of business. I was having a hard time finding any one to help resolve my issue until I called Your Home Solar and talked to Anita she was very polite professional an courteous. She setup the appointment for the install. Bryan came out to do the install and he was also very polite professional an courteous I found Bryan to be very passionate about his work knowledgeable and more then willing to go out of his way to help me. He also found my backup battery was bad. He called the manufacturer and arranged a RMA for it at no cost to me. They even put me on there Monitoring system. Thanks Your Home Solar"

"Doug is reliable.. when he says he will be there.. he is... when he gives you an estimate it's more then fair and very close to what he thought it would be. He knows his stuff and he is very personable too. You don't get that with many trades people. I would hire him again and would recommend him highly to everyone I know"

"Thomas is wonderful! He was MORE THAN HALF the price of another estimate. He showed up on time and answered me when I texted him. He had to run two new lines with a finished basement and the holes he made were so small I couldn't believe it. He measured and measured again before installing can and pendant lights and they were perfect. I am SO pleased with the results."

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

Yes, in most municipalities, you will need a permit to install a permanent home generator, including emergency backup, partial-home, and whole-home models. Because these installations involve significant alterations to your home's electrical system and produce exhaust fumes, local governments often require a permit or inspection for safety purposes. A generator permit typically costs between $50 and $250, depending on your location. Your electrician or certified installer can usually handle the permitting process for you, but you will be responsible for the cost. It's a good practice to confirm with your installer that they will pull all necessary permits before work begins.

If you’re wondering whether gas generators produce carbon monoxide, know that natural gas generators do not produce carbon monoxide if they are functioning properly, as natural gas burns cleanly. However, if the generator malfunctions and the gas does not burn completely, there is potential for carbon dioxide to be produced. To prevent malfunctions, it's crucial to perform regular maintenance, including running the generator weekly and scheduling professional inspections every 6 to 12 months. Also, be sure to test your carbon monoxide detectors regularly to ensure they function in the rare case of the generator producing carbon monoxide.

Energy output depends on turbine size, average wind speed at your site, and system efficiency. A 5 kW turbine in a good wind location can generate 8,000 to 12,000 kilowatt-hours per year, which may cover a large portion of an average home’s needs. Accurate output estimates require a professional wind assessment and a review of your household’s energy usage patterns.

Yes, natural gas generators can work without electricity. Natural gas generators are a common type of backup or whole-house generator that operates when the electrical grid isn’t working. The trick is using a transfer switch (which usually needs to be installed with the generator) that safely switches the home electrical system from the power grid to generator power when needed.

If you’re wondering if you can use your electric vehicle as a backup battery, it depends on whether your EV is compatible with bidirectional charging. This technology allows energy to flow both ways, enabling vehicle-to-home (V2H) backup power, vehicle-to-load (V2L) for appliances and camping, and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) to support the power grid. Compatible EVs convert stored DC energy into usable AC power, helping reduce energy costs and enhance grid stability while providing emergency backup power.
