"The report was thorough and detailed and included photos and a scale rendering of my job. Neal's explanation was easy to understand and he answered all my questions. He gave me a straightforward appraisal of my situation without trying to 'sell' me something. I would easily recommend."

"My home was built in 2000 so initial evidence of asbestos discovered in my crawlspace was thought to be in error. I called AAA Remediation and they came out to take samples for the lab. Asbestos was confirmed and I had them remove. It appears when my home was being constructed they needed ~ 8 shims regarding the piers - apparently one of the subcontractors used pieces of shutters from an old home in his pickup bed. The builder was not aware of this and as advised me reimbursement would be received. I mention this as even new homes can contain hazardous material not intended by the builder and missed during inspections. AAA did a great job with remediation and I would recommend."

"As far as the crawl space material they put down, it went great. It took them slightly longer than expected but they did a good job there. Con number one: the crew at my house tore several take-offs totally off of the vent. They made several attempts to repair it, but in the end, I was left to contact my HVAC contractor to repair the damage to avoid another over-expensive power bill. For the cost of the project, I was highly pissed that my brand new duct work was trashed, and no one from AFS let me know that they had torn up my take-offs. Con number two: I was told all of any trash found in my crawlspace, plumbing scraps, rocks etc. would be removed. I found a lot of stuff stashed on top of pillars and things like that. Overall, I would have paid no more than 1/3rd down and held the last payment until I was able to inspect the work done thoroughly. At the end of the day, I feel confident in the job they did on my crawl space, and I certainly have much less moisture under my house now. I would be slightly apprehensive to recommend this company unless you are comfortable going into your crawlspace and inspecting for any damage before paying them."

"Matt was an awesome rep. He came to our home inspected and gave us the quote. When there was an issue later down the road on where the window could be placed because we didn’t know where some of our lines were under ground be came back and reevaluated and came up with a plan. We had to change our entire floor plan for this window but it’s ok it wasn’t there fault it’s all going to work out in the end."

Home Inspection questions, answered by experts

Any unexplained smell in your house should be investigated. However, some home odors are "red flag" worrisome because they pose immediate health and safety risks. Odors should be taken seriously when accompanied by headaches, nausea, or lightheadedness. If you smell an egg-like aroma, this is probably natural gas. You should leave the home immediately, and  contact your gas company.

Mold inspections are worth it because they can catch troublesome mold problems early before they get out of hand. It's worth it to address mold problems as soon as possible because mold can be hazardous to your health and cause damage to your home and its belongings. Mold testing and inspections are the best way to know if you have a mold issue in your house.

While it’s not mandatory unless you’re purchasing a home, it is important to schedule regular home electrical inspections for safety and to maintain your house’s value. Inspections can reduce fire risk and can help save money on insurance premiums. They can also catch problems before they start, saving money on repairs down the line.

You can determine if your ductwork needs rerouting by looking for common signs of issues. Uneven heating or cooling in different areas of your home, unusual noises from the ducts, and a noticeable increase in energy bills may all indicate problems with your duct system. Additionally, if you've recently renovated or there are structural changes in your home, it's a good idea to assess whether your current ductwork layout is still efficient.

In many cases, you can sell your house if it has aluminum wiring, but you are likely required to disclose that fact during the sale. In some cases, your city or area may have banned the sale of homes with aluminum wiring, so you’ll need to update the wiring or arrange for its replacement as part of the sale. In some cases, it will benefit your home sale to replace the wiring system before putting it on the market.
