"Kevin Gardner & his helper Sam were really nice respectful fellows. I only gave then 4.5 stars on work quality because an auger cable broke and they had to fish it out. I gave them 5 stars on customer service for a number of reasons, not the least of which was there was no b.s. about the broken cable situation. Past that, they both spoke to me with knowledge and humor and answered all my questions as well as gave me valuable insight on how to deal with the issue going forward. Pricing of the job was clear from the get-go. I'll be calling Kevin again. One other thing: I was very frustrated with my situation after working on it for 8.5 hours on a Friday, I went to Home Advisor put in my info and got a text from Gardner in 10 minutes requesting that I call. Kevin Garner answered, I ran through the litany of my issues, Kevin correctly diagnosed the problem, as we found out later, and we agreed on the money for the camera work right then and there. We also made an appointment for the next morning, a Saturday, between 10-11am. They were at my door at 10. It was raining fairly hard and I'm not sure I, if I were them, would have been on time as they had been to a previous job in some mud field. They were nice about my not being quite ready to show them the issue (at an adjacent building) and gave me the 5 minutes I needed to 'dress for success' :), without any comment or complaint at all. In fact they were complimentary about my previous day's work of trying to resolve the problem with just a old style manual feed auger that I worked for 8.5 hours. They told me that they wouldn't have felt like getting out of the sack either, after all that. Like I implied: Decent, nice and respectful people. I'll be hiring this outfit again!"

"We had Daniel, Johnny and Tim work to install steel beam and jacks to lift sagging floors. They did an excellent job and we immediately noticed how the bounce and sag in our floor was gone. It even closed the settlement cracks in our wall. They were on time, considerate and thorough. They cleaned up our space without us even having to ask them. "I was charged $395 for a Big Blue filter housing installed by Aqua Clear Water System that replaced one that failed (sprang a leak). (This has nothing to do with the fact I change my own filters so any implication that it does is simply dishonest.) I later discovered that the identical filter housing also manufactured by Big Blue is available at The Home Depot for $69.95 and for $59.95 from Isopure Water. The Aqua Clear price of $395 did not include tools or other parts, nor did it include the service call fee and labor charge of $185. Despite the Aqua Clear general manager’s claim that his service fee is in the middle of the pack for Knoxville, others I called (Pipe Wrench, Hiller and Tennessee Standard Plumbing) charge between $39 and $69 and those fees are typically deducted from the bill. The Aqua Clear service technician told me that because the filter housing was just a few days out of warranty there would be no charge. Despite his good intentions, the general manager told him to charge the entire $395, pushing my bill to $580. So there was no transparent pricing and I did not agree to the charge prior to the work being performed. In fact, I was shocked that I was being charged hundreds of dollars for what is essentially a big plastic threaded cup that sells for hundreds less at other retailers. After some haggling, I was able to get the bill reduced to $480, which I think is still unreasonable. The quality of the work, especially where the technician was concerned, wasn't the issue. I have no problem paying more than is customary for high-quality work I can trust, but I do object to price gouging and deception."
