"Technician arrived on time, calling as he left the previous job.  Pleasant young man went right to work.  Cleaned condenser coil with a foaming spray, checked capacitor function (slightly low out of spec but since unit was running I chose to leave it as is) monitored refrigerant pressure, maybe did a few other things.  Technician also cleaned condensate drain pipe by vacuuming exit end - you could tell vac was sucking water and other crud through the pipe.  Said they never clean upstairs coil (evaporator) although that was the primary reason why I called.  Unit was emitting a slightly foul odor when it started up.  Person in office I spoke to when setting appointment said they would clean the evaporator coil if it could be accessed.  It was cleaned one time before but I don't know details of access.  It would have involved removing some insulation and removing a panel on the duct transition where coil is located.   Checked several things on upstairs unit and interior of fan box looked very clean so I wasn't so disappointed about not cleaning the coil - it probably wasn't dirty.  He said smell was coming from foul water that collects in condensate tray and doesn't all flow out the drain.  Technician placed a chemical pad in the condensate pan and the smell stopped.  They didn't do everything on their task list but after most of the checks others probably didn't need to be made.  He didn't check thermostat but I told him it was a programmable Tstat and was working fine.  I'm satisfied with their work and would use them again.
