"Jake’s crew did a great job! They were very nice and worked very hard on a challenging walkway. The finished result much improved the looks and safety of our entrance. It was great to work with Jake and we would highly recommend him and his business. Thanks Jake."

"I had a good experience with AAA Paving of TN. Doug was my sales person and Perfecto was the job site project foreman and I am very pleased and feel that they did all that they promised in their contract. I have been in construction for over 40 years and while not an asphalt professional, this company did a good job and I paid them on the spot. I noted that there are some bad reviews and while I cannot comment on any of the issues sited, I am pleased with their services."

"Laid Back Landscaping did a great job with installation of Arborvitae and Green Giant privacy trees along our fence line, Japanese Maple accent trees and shrubs, new sod and irrigation system. Sean and the Team were responsive with communication, on time with installation, and did high quality install. We love our new backyard. Thank You!"

Paving Services questions, answered by experts

Decomposed granite and caliche can both harden into a solid surface using a plate compactor. However, due to decomposed granite’s fine particles, it’s not suitable for driveway surfaces. Some homeowners use pea gravel mixed with a gravel-binding resin to bind the loose stones and create a solid surface that won’t shift like loose gravel.

Grass pavers are suitable for heavy foot or vehicle traffic, but they’re not as resistant as concrete or asphalt pavers.

Your driveway contractor will probably recommend that you avoid driving on your new millings driveway for up to a week. Keeping pressure off the freshy applied millings will help the driveway to bind together. While the sun is helpful for binding millings, hotter weather can actually make the curing process take longer.

Building a road on a slope requires careful planning and will normally require a drainage system underneath to prevent flooding and damage to the road over time. Your professional may lengthen your road to create switchbacks if the slope directly to your home is too steep, as there are regulations for maximum road slope. The drainage system will help prevent runoff from the higher side of the slope from damaging the asphalt or concrete. Keep in mind that building a road on a slope isn’t a good DIY project, as a lot can go wrong.

Paving is a part of hardscaping, so all paving is hardscaping, but not all hardscaping is paving. Paving involves laying down concrete or asphalt, while hardscaping can also include the use of paving stones, bricks, gravel, wood, and more. Hardscape features that involve paving are considered permanent and will increase your property taxes, while some other hardscaping features—like those involving bricks, gravel, and paving stones—will not affect property taxes. Paving also typically requires a permit, while hardscaping features considered temporary will not.
