Doug was professional and endulged a 100 questions that I threw at him regarding appliances, dish washing detergent, laundry detergent, etc... I told him I thought it wasn't getting hot enough and that my novice diagnostic was a bad NTC (thermostat controler). After running electrical test he found that the NTC was working fine but part of the way through the cycle the heater was kicking on and off. He showed me that the tub didn't have enough water and that was causing the temp issue. Ultimately we have very hard water and the lime/calcium gums up every hot water pipe in my house. This partially blocked valve wasn't allowing the dishwasher to fill to the needed level, and Doug was able to demonstrate the effect by adding more water manually. Doug showed me how to 'get by' until the part came in and charged a reasonable price for the initial visit and quoted me an all in cost for the part and labor (tax included). Thursday morning Doug called letting me know he had the part and offered to come back out to install. Again he called on his way and showed up at the time promised. When removing the old valve Doug found that the company that installed the dishwasher had over tightened the feed line and recommended that I keep an eye on the line for a few cycles of the dishwasher to make sure there was no damage done to the line that wasn't visible to the naked eye. Ultimately Doug was clean, professional, knowledgeable, and reasonably priced. He was also patient with my endless question and didn't seemed put off answering them (I would drive me nuts). I would definitely recommend Advanced Appliance Service and I'm sure I'll use them again. They did the work in about four or five hours. It was hard to communicate with some of the guys who did the installation since English is their second language. When they join the 2 pieces of granite for the countertop, they are supposed to make a nice tight fitting. I saw on the show Holmes on Homes that they use a pneumatic type machine to push the pieces together. I asked one of the workers about the tool and he brushed it off and said it does not work well. They instead used their hands with no tools and the result was one slab that was higher than the other.. The edges did not look good. I had to tell him to improve it. They were going to leave it like that. So after I told them it didn't look good, one of the workers used a sander (or some type of device) to level out one edge to make the joint look good. I'm no expert here but I don't think that's how you do it. The result looked good, but you can feel with your hands that it was sanded down. All I could think was these guys were buffoons. When they put the stove back in, I noticed the granite pieces on both sides were not even(it wasn't the stove that was misplaced). I was laughing at how ridiculous it was that they were going to leave it like that. Another piece of granite was not level against the wall, and again they were going to leave it as is until I spoke up. They cut out a piece of my wall to make the granite countertop fit.
The stone itself was not smooth and had liittle indentions all over. It looked great but with your hand you could feel many tiny pits. None of the granite pieces I felt in various showrooms from Home Depot, etc, had stone with this defect. Every stone I felt was glossy smooth. The only solace is that the stone is visually stunning, and has bigger sparkles(inherent to this stone) than any other similar stone we've seen. I told them to try to fix this, and they did so by filling the pits with some kind of epoxy and glue mixture.
After the countertop was installed and they left, I noticed they did not clean up properly. Dust etc was all over parts of my cabinents. Minor complaint but should have been cleaned. They took our old countetops and had to break it up and take it away. There were some pieces of this old countertop on my grass and driveway. I found cigarette butts outside in my yard. Also, when they put in the new countertops they did not nail them into the dishwasher, the new dishwasher now tilted out. They should have screwed in the dishwasher into the top of the granite. A few days later, I visited their office to pay my bill and to complain to the owner of the business. He was making excuses and he would not admit to anything. He then berated his son in private and his son called me asking why I complained to his father. We went back and forth yelliing at each other and I finally hung up on him. I can buy stuff at one place and have it delivered somewhere else because they are located all over the country. I use them because they are not local. It is a good feature for me to be able to buy a dishwasher and have it installed in Los Angeles. I call them up every five or six years and tell them I need another carpet, and I ask them for a discount. They will have one of their subcontractors out. They immediately do their jobs, and it might take three to four days or maybe a week. It is subcontract work, and that is why they do it. I would not dare call up somebody out of the newspaper and have them do it. They really stand by their work. Sometimes, they have a lousy crew, but they fix it. My drapes were wrinkled when installed and dragged on the floor. I had to have them back to fix the problems. Also, it took longer than in should have between the date I ordered the items and they were installed, because Costco was without an installer for a period of time. There were also mistakes made in my order which were corrected in the end, but took multiple tries to get right. Food items are not being held at the correct temperature (between 35 and 38 degrees Fahrenheit)
The fridge is using too much energy and seems to run all the time
Loud and/or unusual noises
Possible causes include:
A damaged door
Faulty condenser coil

Contacting an appliance repair professional as soon as possible can help save items in your fridge from spoiling. Common fridge repairs include the compressor, control board, thermostat, defrost motor, coils, and ice maker.
In most cases, appliance warranties do not transfer to new owners. However, some exceptions apply. To check the status of your appliance warranty and whether you can transfer it when you move, review the terms and conditions of your warranties or consult your home warranty service. When purchasing a new appliance or one from a previous owner, be sure to pay attention to its warranty status, including the type of coverage and any exclusions.
Typically, most appliances last anywhere from 10 to 15 years, depending on the appliance, brand, and amount of use. Keeping a regular maintenance schedule, including cleaning and tune-ups, also helps appliances last longer. Dryers, gas stoves, and refrigerators tend to last the longest, averaging about 13 to 15 years. Microwaves and dishwashers tend to last about 10 years on average.
The average cost to repair an appliance depends on the appliance, make, model, the part that needs repair, and how long it takes to replace or repair a part. The following are the average repair costs for the most common appliances:
Refrigerator: $200–$300
Freezer: $90–$500
Oven, cooktop, range: $100–$500
Microwave: $50–$400
Dishwasher: $160–$300
Garbage disposal: $70–$250
Washing machine: $50–$450
Dryer: $100–$400
Appliance repair contractors may charge $40 to $120 per hour for labor, and most also provide the replacement parts necessary at an additional cost. It’s also important to note that these prices can go up on holidays and emergency fees may apply if you need your appliance fixed immediately.
The cost of home appliances ranges from $350 to $8,000 or more, depending on the brand, type of appliance, and features. Additional cost factors include any hookups that need to be installed, such as gas, plumbing, or electrical. Keep in mind that major appliances, such as refrigerators, washers and dryers, and water heaters, will cost more than minor appliances, such as microwaves, due to the size, complexity, and essential nature of the item.
