"Mr. O’Grady gave me a quote that actually reflected the final cost and was able to perform the work at a convenient time for me. The completed work looks good and functions properly and the work area was left clean and tidy after completion of the work. If I need electrical work in the future I will surely consider O’Grady Electric as a service provider."

"Your Home Solar designed an incredible system to bring power to the buildings on my off-grid property. They helped me understand the process, evaluate various options and gave me great advice. They have been incredibly professional. My system has been working well for over a year without any glitches. They also have an annual maintenance plan that is reasonably priced."

"I hired W B Lighting Rods/William Burden to install lightning rods on my home. I spoke to William on a Monday and by Thursday before 1 PM the lightning rods were installed on my home. William explained everything he was going to do before he did it. The lightning rods were affordable and most of all it gives me peace of mind knowing that my home is protected against lightning strikes and fire damage. I couldnâ t be happier with this company!!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Dayton, frequent breaker trips, flickering or dimming lights, warm or discolored outlets, and burning odors are strong indicators of electrical issues. Homes with outdated knob-and-tube or aluminum wiring, missing GFCI outlets in kitchens or bathrooms, or visible DIY repairs without permits should be inspected. If your home’s wiring can’t support modern appliances or shows signs of wear, it’s time for a professional evaluation.

Helpful?

Combining electrical upgrades with other home projects in Dayton is often more efficient. For example, updating wiring during kitchen or bathroom remodels allows for easier access behind walls and can streamline inspections. Bundling projects like lighting upgrades with insulation or HVAC work can reduce disruption and labor time. Many local electricians coordinate with other contractors, making the renovation process smoother for Dayton homeowners.

Helpful?

In Dayton, using copper wiring rated for humidity, weather-resistant GFCI outlets in damp or outdoor areas, and PVC conduit for underground installations is recommended. For basements, rust-resistant electrical panels help prevent corrosion. Choose UV-rated and corrosion-resistant materials for outdoor electrical work. Selecting energy-efficient fixtures and buying supplies in bulk can help with larger projects while ensuring your home’s electrical system is safe and durable.

Helpful?

For minor electrical tasks in Dayton, always turn off the breaker before replacing switches, outlets, or light fixtures. Use a non-contact voltage tester to confirm power is off and keep your hands dry. Avoid working on circuits with signs of moisture, unusual wiring, or if you notice aluminum or knob-and-tube wiring. For any outdoor, high-voltage, or unfamiliar electrical projects, contact a local professional to ensure safety.

Helpful?

Dayton homeowners are increasingly choosing smart home features like programmable switches, USB charging outlets, and whole-home surge protection. Outdoor living spaces are enhanced with landscape lighting and weather-resistant outlets. Energy-efficient upgrades such as LED recessed lighting, ceiling fans, and solar-ready electrical panels are trending. Many are also adding dedicated circuits for home offices and kitchen islands to support modern technology needs.
