"Brandon came out almost immediately after I was in contact. He is very friendly, courteous and professional. He replaced my electrical panel today and provided me with a complete review of everything that needs to be done to be safe and stay up to code. My condo is 25 years old and no electrical maintenance has been done during that time period. I will call them for all my work in the future. I certainly would recommend them for your electrical work."

They have been incredibly professional. My system has been working well for over a year without any glitches. They also have an annual maintenance plan that is reasonably priced."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

GFCI outlets help prevent dangers from ground faults that can cause shocks. This is a different issue that a ground circuit can’t fully address. It’s best to use GFCI outlets combined with ground circuits for complete protection for you and your electronics.

While circuit breakers are designed to be reset after tripping, there isn't a strict countdown to when they will fail. The primary danger lies in a breaker tripping multiple times in a short period without allowing the components to cool down. Theoretically, a standard breaker might handle around 50 trips caused by simple overloading. However, this number can be much lower in practice. For instance, a high-current fault could damage a breaker to the point that it needs replacement after only two resets. Repeatedly resetting a breaker that trips frequently exacerbates the underlying problem by causing the electrical components, wires, and the breaker itself to overheat. This can lead to permanent damage, cause the breaker to trip unnecessarily in the future, and increase the risk of an electrical fire. If a breaker trips every few minutes, you should leave it in the 'off' position and call a qualified electrician for an inspection.

Yes, you can get shocked while using a multimeter if:

  • You touch the metal tip while testing a live current.

  • The meter isn’t properly rated for the voltage.

  • The meter picks up on transient voltage that’s above the range you’ve set.

  • The meter has defective parts.

You can prevent shock and personal injury by using a multimeter properly and maintaining your device.

If you’re unsure how to use a multimeter or want help with your project, contact a local electrician to get the job done.

A weatherhead, the meter base, the breaker box, and a meter panel are all vital components of a working meter riser. If one part of the system is faulty, it could damage other parts, so consider having an electrician inspect the entire unit. The cost to replace the meter panel alone may cost $500 to $1,000, so consider this in your budget for replacing the meter riser.

A multimeter does not measure frequency, charge, inductance, and other electrical quantities. Instead, it measures voltage (AC and DC), current, and resistance.
