"Complete Animal Removal/Complete Insulation removed raccoons, opossums, and a skunk from my property/attic space. Other work performed was exterior structural repairs, antibacterial treatment, and insulation removal/replacement. All work was professional and performed in a very timely manner. The personnel--Michelle, Jayson, Tchaikousky, Larry, and Dylan--were very professional and a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend Complete Insulation."

"They were very professional. Came out and gave a fair estimate. Arrived on time. Covered all surfaces not being sprayed. Sprayed generously. Nowhere was it sprayed with less than requested. Cleaned up especially well. Courteous, quick, accurate. Highly recommend them. I will use them again when I’m ready for phase three"

"They did great work, from the time the owner showed up to do the quote through the actual installation of the foam insulation they did a great job. I would recommend them for anyone looking for foam insulation. If I had need of more insulation I would hire them for that as well."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Yes, exposure to fiberglass insulation can cause harm to your skin and eyes. However, this typically refers to the fiberglass insulation that is mostly used in walls and attics. Fiberglass doors don’t pose risks for fiberglass exposure because they're fully encased in polymer cladding.

Insulating ductwork improves your HVAC system's energy efficiency by protecting the air from external conditions and preventing energy loss as it travels through the ducts. This means your system doesn't have to work as hard to heat or cool your home, leading to lower energy bills and a reduced carbon footprint. Additionally, insulated ducts help maintain a more consistent and stable indoor temperature, enhancing comfort. Proper insulation also improves indoor air quality by reducing the entry of allergens and pollutants and helps prevent problems like condensation and mold formation within the ductwork.

No, 55 degrees Fahrenheit is not too cold for a house, as it’s a temperature that will keep your pipes and appliances from freezing. Well-insulated homes can even go to 50 degrees, but check with an HVAC pro before opting for such a low temperature. Stick to 55 degrees to be on the safe side.

The amount and type of insulation your home needs depends on your location, climate, and the specific installation area (attic, walls, or floors). Your local building code will typically determine the minimum required R-value. For specific recommendations, Energy Star suggests the following R-values: homes in the Southern U.S. should have R30 to R60 in attics and R13 to R25 in floors and walls; homes in moderate climates need R38 to R60 in attics and R25 to R30 in floors and walls; and homes in northern states require R49 to R60 in attics and R25 to R30 in floors and walls.

Yes, insulating hot water pipes helps your system run more efficiently. This is especially true in basements in colder climates, where cold air likes to settle in. There are a few ways to insulate water pipes (foam is common) to keep hot water hot, reducing the need for your water heater to constantly heat the water in the tank or your circulator to kick on more than necessary.
