Mr. Stewart demonstrated a startling lack of skill and competence throughout. From the start, he admitted to lying about his ability to do the work, leading to numerous blunders: Incorrect Paint: Used the wrong type in several areas, needing extensive correction. Drywall Errors: Applied excessive mud, causing cracking. Unnecessary Work: Filled holes I didn’t request and didn’t paint over them. Poor Preparation: Neglected taping, causing splatters and spilled stains on my stairs. Tool Incompetence: Struggled with a circular saw, cutting carpet and trim incorrectly. Once dried, Venetian plaster becomes a rock-like substance that’s durable and excellent at resisting damage. You can apply plaster over plaster, but before you do, check the stability of the existing plaster. If it’s been there for a while, it may require a base coat of PVA emulsion. This will make the existing plaster less porous and ensure the new and old plaster adhere properly.
