He was part of the California Conservation Corp and later the untied states forest service . where he helped maintain the trees of California forests and worked in the fire hot jump teams. Joseph took some time off and relocated to South Dakota. In August 2014 Joseph reopened his passions with his wife, Marie, and their family starting from a bare bones operation with one current part- time employee as his main foreman.
