Small jobs welcome

"I found Marlon on Angi. The reviews of his work were excellent so I contacted him. He answered back right away & was responsive to our inquiries throughout the project which was really appreciated. The project was to put up a faux tin ceiling & LVP in the kitchen & bathroom of a 100+ years old house. When we went shopping for supplies at the local Lowe's, the floor & lumber guys knew Marlon & told us he was an excellent contractor. The work was challenging because the PVC tiles were 2x2 & glue on & there are no straight angles in a house this old. Marlon is a true "craftsman" & was able to work through all problems, large & small, that were encountered. He is extremely patient & reassuring which was a big plus because we were on a tight schedule. Both my husband & I are perfectionists & we couldn't be happier with the result. We have him scheduled for other projects next year. Also, his prices are extremely reasonable; we gave him a bonus because his work is just that good."

"Tim and Nick were absolutely wonderful. I have waited to remove my jacuzzi tub for years, and now I have a safe and beautiful shower. Nick even added additional grab bars for me to feel more confident and secure. I would absolutely recommend the whole crew at Your Home Improvement Company to anyone looking for a bathroom remodel!"

"The whole project went very well. They helped tremendously from start to finish with several ideas & advice. They ran into some unseen problems with the floor repair but were able to work it out & come up with a good solution. We are very pleased with the final results & would highly recommend their work. They were always on time & arrived when they said they would."

Kitchen and Bathroom Remodel questions, answered by experts

Typically, a wet room costs more than a walk-in shower. Installing a walk-in shower costs an average of $6,700, but this price can go up for a customized shower with high-end materials. By comparison, the average price for building a wet room is $9,000, with the low end of this project hovering around $2,000 and going up to around $30,000 on the high end. Because a wet room often includes renovating the whole space, you’ll spend more on this project.

Bedrooms and living rooms generally cost the least to remodel. Of course, the project price will depend on what you're planning to do to the space and the cost of the materials you choose to incorporate. Prices are typically lower than those of other remodels because major plumbing, electrical, and HVAC work isn't often part of remodeling these rooms.

If done right, wainscoting can make a small bathroom look bigger, but it has more to do with the color choices than the wainscoting itself. If you keep it light and paint the wainscoting the same color as the wall, it can add depth to the design while making the room feel open. Another option is to add wallpaper with a large design on the walls above the wainscoting.

The smartest way to pay for home renovations is usually to avoid interest as much as possible, which makes paying in cash the best option from a financial perspective. However, paying in cash depletes your savings and could leave you without funds for emergencies in the future. If you don’t have the cash to pay for your remodel, home equity loans and home equity lines of credit usually have the lowest interest rates.

Yes, you can remove a bathtub yourself if you have previous DIY experience and basic plumbing knowledge. You should have at least one other person help you if you approach this project as a DIY. However, hiring a plumber or bathroom remodeling pro can prevent accidental damage from demolition or water leakage.
