"Be prepared to purchase when the salesperson comes out. Will offer discounts good only for that day. Their installer saved the day for me. After a scheduling issue, HE was the one to make it right. He was professional and went out of his way to make sure I was satisfied. If it had not been for him, this review would have been much different!"

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."

"Steve provided great customer service from beginning to end of roofing project. He was timely with his estimate and provided rapid responses to my questions. Pablo and his roofing crew did an exceptional job. They worked late into the evening to ensure both the house and my 12'x20' shed were completed. This was an excellent experience with superb customer service rendered by Steve and the roofing crew. Teamwork Exteriors has my very highest recommendation."

"My husband and I gouged a hole in our siding when removing a retractable awning. The owner of this business contacted me within minutes of my Homeadvisor inquiry and was at my home the same day to take a look at the hole. He immediately informed us that we didn't need him to do this repair and told us how to do it ourselves....saving us hundreds of dollars! Didn't even charge for the consult. If I ever *do* end up needing a siding repair, this business will definitely be my first bid."

Home Inspection questions, answered by experts

Unfortunately, asbestos is not easily identified and can often be hidden in plain sight in your home. While it can look like fluffy fibers, tiny pieces can also appear in materials like plastic or cement, making it impossible to identify on your own properly.

Plus, since asbestos is so dangerous when disturbed, you should never root around to try and find it. This job is best for a professional who can test for the material properly.

Mobile homes need releveling every so often to maintain their structural integrity. Most mobile home manufacturers recommend releveling every three to five years. To keep the quality of your mobile home up for years and to avoid deterioration over time, proper maintenance is key.

You should schedule a fireplace inspection at least once a year, per the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). However, this is the minimum requirement even if you’re diligent with fireplace maintenance between uses. If you suspect your fireplace is malfunctioning, schedule one sooner to avoid fire hazards or the release of harmful emissions like carbon monoxide in your home.

It depends on the bank and the extent of the issue. Some banks will lend against homes with minor foundation damage, but most won’t if the issue is structural since the home acts as collateral for the mortgage. Banks that offer renovation loans might still finance a home with structural problems. More minor issues like settling cracks and intermittent problems with humidity are unlikely to stop a bank from financing.

You can look at the duct damper’s lever to see if it’s open or closed. If the lever is parallel to the duct, the damper is open. If it’s perpendicular, the damper is closed. Alternatively, you can hold your hand against vents throughout your home. If you feel air coming out, that damper is partially or fully open. No airflow likely means that the damper is closed.
